My chances at UT?

Do i have a chance at getting in? also, what's the admission rate? My stats...

-Texas resident and minority student
-SAT (new) 1460
-ACT (new) 20
-GPA 94% (equivalent to a 3.8)
-class rank 72/498 (top 14%)
-varsity track and field
-community service (Project Linus)
-UIL English (academic team)
-Church/ministry activities
-taking all AP and honor courses except in Physics
-excellent recommendations

If i need to improve something, please let me know

are you kidding me? 1460 on the new sat. There is no way you are going to get in with a 20 on your ACT and 1460 on your SAT. Are you sure your 1460 isn't on the old one?

Sorry, no chance with those scores.

Maybe he means 1460 between Math and CR. But probably not with a 20 ACT score. If he means 1460 total, he better go visit Baylor.

he won't even get in there.

I bet he will, he's in all APs and has a good GPA and rank (especially for baylor). He just happens to have really poor standardized test scores. I'd say as long as he can afford Baylor out of pocket, that's his best option.

Texas-rejected
Texas A&M-rejected

That leaves Baylor, SMU, and TCU a sthe most prestigious local schools, and I'd give Baylor the edge in price/performance/atmosphere over the other 2.

SMU > TCU > Baylor

you must go to a pretty crappy high school to be top 14% but under the average SAT score.

Baylor's average SAT is ~1800. it will be a hard road to admission. if you really want to go to UT you could do community college, UTD, UTSA, or UTA and then try and transfer - seems like you do well in school.

UTD doesn't have the transfer plan the other branch campuses do.

i wish UTD woudl have the transfer plan....i dont under stand why it doesnt...

UTD isnt a school you want to go to anyway. Its not made for undergrads. You have to live in an apartment with 3 other people, and cook all your own meals. Its not anything like the undergrad experience you'll get elsewhere.

UTD is frightening. I think they had serious mold problems this year or something. People get shot there all the time.
