My chances at UVA, UNC, TCNJ, etc.

Ok so I'm a high school junior in NJ

My Stats:
GPA- 4.30 top 10% of my class but not entirely sure where

SATs- Math- 760 CR- 700 Writing- 610 I'm retaking them in June with hopes at improving CR and especially Writing. I think 740 on CR and 680 on Writing are within reach.

SAT IIs- Math 1- 600 US Hist.- May Bio- May. It doesn't mean anything at this point but I'm hell-bent getting atleast 700+ on these

APs- US Hist., Bio, and Stat in May. Again I've gone kinda physco and am hell-bent on getting all 5s, although its going to be tough with Stat (not too worried about the other two to be honest).

Courses(includ. next year)- Math- Algebra IIH, Geometry H, Pre-Calc H, Stat AP, Calc AP
Science- Geophysical Systems H, Bio H, Chem H, Bio AP, Environmental AP, Physics H
English- English 1H, English 2H, English 3H, World Literature
History- World Cultures H, US 1AP, US 2AP, Euro AP
Foreign Lang.- Italian 3, Italian 4, Italian Lit., Italian AP
Other- Visual Art 1, Visual Art 2, Ceramics, Sculpture

Extra Curr.- Italian Club (VP), NHS, Italian Honors Society, Tennis (varsity junior year, captain senior year), various not-very-selective summer programs (NYLF, course at Brown), volunteer work with elementary school kids in my town

So I'm thinking of applying to UVA, UNC (my sister goes there), Wake Forest, TCNJ, and maybe some others. Suggestions are welcome...

Some extra info: I plan on getting my recs from my Bio AP teacher (got an A in her class and know her pretty well) and my Itlian teacher, who I've had all four years of high school and is also the adviser for the Italian Club of which I am a member. Also, for its worth, I plan on going on an essay-writng spree during on free time this summer, so I feel pretty good about my chances of writing a memorable essay.

Wow, more things to add. I think I really need other suggestions. I want to to go somewhere in Mid-Atlantic (+ NC) thats not rural but doesn't have to be in a big city and somewhere in the 5,000-15,000 range of undergrads. UNC is the exception in that sense, because its a little bigger, but I have visited many times and liked it. I also don't want super-expensive, although my parents are willing to pay a good amount. I think I need safety schools especially because there are tons of reach schools I can think of. TCNJ and Villanova are my only safety schools and I'm not even sure if they're safety.

I'm interested in Biology and environmental sciemce mostly. I might also might want to look into something like anthropology or biological anthropology.

Bumping this up^

Hey, I'll be completely honest. Even though your scores and grades are pretty amazing, the chances of out-of-state acceptance from UNC are EXTREMELY slim. If you are applying from out of state they usually only take the top 3-5% of your class. So if you're not Valedictorian or the such, its pretty difficult to get in. However, that should not discourage you. You never know whats going to happen. Seeing that your sister got accepted there's a good chance that you could get accepted yourself. I just wanted to let you know that out of state acceptance is very very difficult, so don't get your hopes too high. But you have a very good chance of getting accepted into of your top college choices, so don't worry about it. =)

Thanks for the reply. I realize both UNC and UVA are very tough from out-of-state, but I might as well try.

Yeah it looks like you have a pretty fair shot at getting in. Its always worth a try. Good luck!
