what are your sat II scores?

i havent taken them yet
i'm planning on taking French and Math (not sure which one..most likely both) at the beginning of senior year

Will hopefully/likely score in the high 600's although i'm not too sure.

if you reply to my thread all of your wildest dreams will come true!!

come on.......

i dont really know much about the schools, but it seems as if middlebury would be a reach because of your SAT scores, just try getting those up and your solid A- average should be fine

ok thanks, anybody else?

o yea, williams is probably a slight reach right now too... didnt see it on ur list

yeah i knew that i guess...

but how much of a reach are schools like grinnell, macalester, middlebury and williams??? thanks

Middlebury & Williams are definite reaches. Perhaps Grinnell. Macalester should be a match.

thanks,

well i guess i'm wondering do i have any hope whatsoever at middlebury & williams? can i count on getting into grinnell or macalester? do i need to add more safeties to my list??

calz, i seriously think that if u raise ur sat scores and stuff, that you have a reasonable chance at williams and middlebury, it depends on how competetivly your schools grades. at my school, for example, 20 out of 100 kids go to ivys, and 4 or 5 go to top-notch engineering schools, and most people get Bs and B+s as their grades... so i think it depends on how ur grades compare to others at ur school... an A- is a very solid average at a good school--i mean, at my school, i get B+s in subjects like chem while i get 800s on SAT IIs and 5s on APs.

yeah i see what you're saying. our colleges aware of how tough each school grades? cuz i think my school grades pretty harshly... there is most definitely nobody who has a 4.0 UW.. probably not even a 3.9. will colleges somehow know this?

wow jokaking, at my school only 10/140 went to ivys, but many went to duke/stanford one is going to olin and one to west point

yea, each school sends an academic profile, where it sends info about the school's grading

Getting into Williams is the LAC equivalent of getting into HYP. WIth your scores it willdefinitely be a reach. Attending school in Moscow depending on the number of years you have been there nmay also throw you into the international pool of applicants (many people a few spots). Remember Williams only admits approx 1100 students to fill a class of about 550.

Carleton, Middlebury, Williams, Wash U - reaches
others - matches/safeties

i'm pretty sure i will NOT be an international student but i'm an American citizen. almost all schools will put me in the regular applicant pool.

thanks for everyone's input...

so u guys think i have a good shot at grinnell and macalester? keep the replies coming, thanks!!

I'm not sure about grinnell but for macalester, I know several people who had similar stats but fewer ECs that got in, so I think you have a very good shot.

yay well that's encouraging, i just visited mac and liked it, although the campus wasnt as pretty as i was hoping/expecting.......

anybody else?
