essay will be decent, recs should be good.

i dont really know much about the schools, but it seems as if middlebury would be a reach because of your SAT scores, just try getting those up and your solid A- average should be fine

well i guess i'm wondering do i have any hope whatsoever at middlebury & williams? can i count on getting into grinnell or macalester? do i need to add more safeties to my list??

calz, i seriously think that if u raise ur sat scores and stuff, that you have a reasonable chance at williams and middlebury, it depends on how competetivly your schools grades. at my school, for example, 20 out of 100 kids go to ivys, and 4 or 5 go to top-notch engineering schools, and most people get Bs and B+s as their grades... so i think it depends on how ur grades compare to others at ur school... an A- is a very solid average at a good school--i mean, at my school, i get B+s in subjects like chem while i get 800s on SAT IIs and 5s on APs.

yeah i see what you're saying. our colleges aware of how tough each school grades? cuz i think my school grades pretty harshly... there is most definitely nobody who has a 4.0 UW.. probably not even a 3.9. will colleges somehow know this?

Getting into Williams is the LAC equivalent of getting into HYP. WIth your scores it willdefinitely be a reach. Attending school in Moscow depending on the number of years you have been there nmay also throw you into the international pool of applicants (many people a few spots). Remember Williams only admits approx 1100 students to fill a class of about 550.

i'm pretty sure i will NOT be an international student but i'm an American citizen. almost all schools will put me in the regular applicant pool.

thanks for everyone's input...

so u guys think i have a good shot at grinnell and macalester? keep the replies coming, thanks!!

I'm not sure about grinnell but for macalester, I know several people who had similar stats but fewer ECs that got in, so I think you have a very good shot.
