THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I'll chance you! Please return the favor and chance a fellow Duke ED (me) as well! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/571386-my-chances-please-duke-wake-unc-ch-uva.html

Ok, of the schools you listed, I know the most about Duke probably, living about 40 minutes from campus. Your ECs look good. They should be within range and a help to your application. The swimming thing seems to be a passion so focus on it in your app and essays (the EC essay if not your main statement). The grades also look decent. Your test scores are decent as well. The 30 is a tad on the low side. It is near the 25% range. Keep in mind, I am saying that some of your stats are decent in comparison to Duke students, as you are of course exceptional to the avg american kid (like most Duke applicants) Overall, i would say that your application is competitive if you apply ED. Do to your "decent" stats I would put Duke as a reach school. (40% chance of being admitted in my opinion- which is not bad for a Duke caliber school). Only apply ED to Duke if you are POSITIVE its your first choice as is is binding. And definitely apply, you have a "decent" shot!

As for Clemson and MD, you are out of state for both but probably a strong applicant. I would say most likely IN at Clemson and IN at MD as well. (though i dont not know much about MD) GOOD LUCK!

thanks man, do you know if it hurts my chances if im not gonna swim in college?

anyone else?? just a range would be fine... especially for duke

bump:) bump... bump:(

is your twin applying as well? that would actually help assuming he is similair to you in his app and you are an identical twin... i think youll get in b/c duke loves athletes, but your acts are a little low (although your ranking is good for a private school)... it looks that you will be likely admitted, but then again you aren't a sure bet either, id say about 60% chance... hope this relieves some stress before the decision!

It's not that not swimming will hurt, it's that swimming would help. Athletes are only important to a college if they are recruited, and mostly where revenue sports are concerned.
