What are my chances at:
HYP, Columbia (letter of rec from Columbia doctor), Johns Hopkins, NYU, BC, Brown, Cornell, BU, Dartmouth, and Duke

Got accepted to Penn State so I can dream

Cornell and Columbia look like matches. HYP may be a stretch.

I think HYP are almost always stretches. Cornell and Columbia stretchymatch. Johns Hopkins, NYU, Duke match.

Your ACTs are excellent, but I've seen a lot of people with scores like those get rejected. I don't know whether colleges prefer SATs or not, but are you considering January to up your SAT a bit?

thanks for the help, any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Also what about Brown, Dartmouth, BU, and BC?

no im not taking any SATs in Jan. I'm done with tests

damn son another Indian football player, you should've gotten recruited, what position are you?

middle linebacker man, wut position u play?

nice
offensive lineman/long snapper hopefully will do it at cornell :)

HYP: Reach
Columbia: Slight Reach/Match
Johns Hopkins: Match
NYU: Match
BC: Match
Brown: Slight Reach/Match
Cornell: Match
BU: Match
Dartmouth: Slight Reach/Match
Duke: Match

I'd be surprised if you didn't get into at least one in the Columbia/Brown/Dartmouth category. Good luck!

bbbbuuummmppp

I think everyone here is being a little optimistic. You say that Duke is a match? It's a hard school to get into, regardless of scores. MJ, how are your other ECs and Essays?

yea i used the common app and chose to do a decasyllabic poem written in the style of Canterbury Tales. It took forever but tell talks about everything important to me in Geoffrey Chaucer's style. I could also just place any college's name in the essay.
Heres how it starts:
With the Oxford Cleric, a young man came,
A student, Blank Blank his name.
Applying to Duke with nerves of jello,
He hoped to be a future class fellow.

hey, pretty creative! Good work. How about your other ECs besides sports?

well i tutor 4 hours a week in bio and 6 hours a week in spanish. I talked about my tutoring in my poem. It was hard being involved in many clubs since football's offseason never ended with weighting lifting everyday after school and practices twice a week from 5:30am to 6:50am before school.

Lack of clubs might be a problem, but I bet you could play football for Duke!

I tutored only during the offseason and summer

i just gotta ask man
how much u bench? supposedly ur the only other indian football player i know

lol...only 250lbs during the season....275lbs now...but i do only weigh 180...hopin to hit 300 before senior years over

nice, nice

well thats good for a OLB, we lineman are just totally different sometimes
