My chances for a UCSD/ UCR?

I am a sophomore and my freshman grades were all As and Bs.
However, my sophomore year grades, arent so well...my GPA went down A LOT.
I was still think if I have a chance for UCSD.

first semester
AP EURO-C
LATIN-B
Chemistry- D ( retaking it again next year and aiming for an A)
PE-A
ENGLISH HONORS- B
ALG 2- C+

Second semester grades are still pending
my goal is to get all As in my classes and chemistry a D so I can take it all over again and aim for an A, and those Ds will cancel out.
I have around 50 hrs of community service and was historian for Make a Wish, publicist for Bridges, in the Golden Fleece Commitee and members for a couple of clubs.

This summer I am planning on doing 500 hrs of community service, and starting on my company that will be marketed in China by the help of my dads company.

Next year, my classes will be
Journalism( Schools newspaper)
AP English
AP US History
Latin
Pre-cal
Chemistry..again for both A's

President for "Bridges", ICC Rep for "Do Something Club", Historian for "MAke a Wish", Class of 2013, Key Club, Interact Club, Golden Fleece Comittee, Flipipino Club probably, join CSF and NHS

My plan for next year is to get above a 4.0 both semesters, and aim for a 1700 on my SAT
Is this good enough? What should I do to get into both of those schools?

I’m going to say what the general populace says: “There is no magic formula!”

UCR probably emphasizes grades the most, so yes, the D in chemistry will detract from your overall application. UCSD is a bit tougher to get into, so remain vigilant and don’t burn yourself out in junior and senior years.

Also, what should you do to get into both of those schools? I would recommend taking the time to proofread.

What do you mean time to proofread? I mean, I will take the class again, and those D’s will cancel out if I get a C or better, my goal is an A. Im freaking out!~

Don’t freak out! Just do your best and get an A in chemistry.

And when I said “proofread,” I mean read over your initial post carefully and think about all of the errors you made. And do the same for your apps. :-)

Thank youuuu!!! :D
