I'm applying to Thomas Jefferson High School of Science and Tech this June.

PSAT 2006: 159
PSAT 2007: 193
SAT March 2008: 2020 (V+M: 1380)
SAT May 2008: 2100 (V+M: 1340)

I'll send all my scores so they can see I'm dedicated and willing to work my butt off (I hope improvement counts should I send all my scores or not?)

Extra-curriculars:
1. FBLA - Won 3rd place Regionals.
2. Forensics - Made it to states. Won 2nd place Regionals.
3. Poetry contest - Getting published in the NJ society of poets this summer.
4. National Spelling Bee in 8th grade.
5. Officially Certified by Microsoft as a Word Specialist.
6. Emceed for school celebrations 3 times.
7. School public (friendly) debate - 'Is English A Status Symbol?'
8. Played the keyboard at school assemblies.
9. Taking care of a heart patient (for free) - she suffered from 2 heart attacks, tuberculosis, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure. She's still going strong and I take care of her meds, check her sugar level, blood pressure regularly. She experienced a stroke (in 2006) when I was with her, and I diagnosed it and got her to the hospital in time.

Now the really crushing question: TJHSST only accept 1 to 2 juniors every year. What is the average SAT score for admission?
Do you think I have any chance?

Note: I'm currently a SOPHOMORE. Applying for a JUNIOR.
Just thought I'd make that clear.
(I plan to take at least 4/5 APs next year, so I'm ready to cope with TJ's intense academic program.)

Thanks for going through this! :)

^
Courseload and grades would be helpful.

Remember: Apps are due by the 2nd, and residence must precede application. (You did say you were moving there right?)

^ Are you applying as well?

(Cue competition music).

I have all the required credits for application + more.
4.0 GPA.

I'm moving to Annandale and I am currently residing in VA, so I don't fall under those people. Thanks for the heads up though.
After reading your stats, I feel stupid.

What are your SAT scores? :(

^
Nope, your state is my state's hat. :) I'm applying to NCSSM next year.
Also:
1. If I moved near there I don't believe we'd be competing (I'm a rising sophomore).
2. I'm not sure if I have the credits that are prerequisite.

I don't take the SAT until October-November time... so my SAT is XXXX, beat that. :)

I just thought that SOMEONE should read the TJHSST site and say something. (I'll be making an NCSSM thread when I apply and I thought replying to your thread might help my "replier" karma.)

Of course, I guess no one knows how many people will be applying to TJHSST for Juniors...

It would be very helpful if you knew the qualities of the average accepted student from 8th to 9th grade. (I don't really know that much about TJHSST, I'm just sorry that you have had to make so many threads.)

Oh no, I am GLAD you're not applying (and even if you were we wouldn't be competing) because then I would have NO CHANCE.

You're amazing! Good luck! :)
And wish me some too, because I'm pretty sure I'll be needing it. :(

(As for the karma thing, don't expect a reply from me on the NCSSM thread because I really don't know anything about it. I had to google it right now. I'm new to the US... so, sorry. All I can say for you is good luck, but I don't think you'll be needing that much of it. Your schedule and school ECs are already incredible! :))

^
Thank you.

I wish you luck... I don't believe anyone knows much here about TJHSST other than it's a great school. Be sure to tell me whether or not you get in. :)

What 5 Ap’s are there? I knoe Math, Science, English, and History, but what’s the last one? An elective? And based on your activities, GPA, and SAT scores, I think you have a fairly good chance of getting in, Good luck!
