I really worked hard and brought my act together for the next three semesters.

I am the 1st/2nd runner on the cross country/track team (varsity), and I have run at the state meet before. I am an officer in a small club and I am part of a non profit organization, volunteering in things like blood drives, book drives, feeding the homeless, etc.

great increase in your grades. they'll take that heavily into account. generally speaking, i've come to learn that these chance threads mean close to nothing.. but, from what you've posted, you are a solid applicant. i think you stand good chance, but i haven't read your whole application.

The low grades from the beginning might hurt you a bit (consider that there are many more students who are also qualified and had perfect grades the entire time), but the upward trend is good. Your SAT is obviously strong. What about SAT IIs? Do you have any honors/awards? Your ECs are slightly weak, though the volunteering is good. As it stands, I'd say slight reach to reach, depending on how great your essays are.
