My Chances for Brown??

Hey, do you know Lim Ji Hong by any chance?
I went to the same middle school :)

Yes… I know Ji Hong Lim…We were roommates before…
He is applying to universities in Korea

i really dont think there’s any point going to college with those AP scores, i mean really, how does that happen haha… i saw you have a good shot getting in.

Thank You~!!
Instead I have low scores in SAT…ha ha
I hope my AP scores will cover my SAT score…kkk

Great EC’s and test scores.
I’d say you have a very good shot at brown.
IDK how international admissions work though.

You’ve got a decent chance. The APs help to mitigate the SATs. I’d say 30-45% chance.

increasethe SAT scores and you will be looking better

Will you still be taking the upcoming Korean College Entrance Exam?

well, first to address, Brown… it’s actually become harder than Harvard and Yale to get into, but your SAT is still excellent (1410), enough for other factors to give you a excellent chance; your extra-curriculars are outstanding, GPA is great, and transcript is overwhelming… I wouldn’t call it a guarantee; I’d think it’s a reasonable reach

for your other schools:
BrownED - reasonable reach
Washington University in St. Louis - low match-safety
University of Pennsylvania - high-match, low reach
Emory University - match
UCSD - You’re In
Duke - match
Cornell - low match- possible safety?
MIT - Reasonable Reach
Northeastern - You’re In
UC Berkley - high match-low reach
John’s Hopkins - match
Oberlin - You’re In

Djokovic!! I reaaaaaally want to raise my SAT scores!! Maybe I can make upto 2200 in December, but unfortunately December scores do not count in Early Decision…

Samsunimomo!! I will not(can not haha)take Korean College Entrance Exam because I did not prepare for it at all…

amr2014!!! Thanx for sincere comments… I was surprised to know that Brown became harder than Yale or Harvard to get into…lol

Why Brown?

Anyways,
I think its a match/high match.

Umm… I’m extremely interested in neuroscience as you can infer from my published paper and some of neuroscience projects… And Brown offers great neuroscience programs in undergraduates whereas most universities offer neuroscience programs for only graduates
I arranged meeting with Barry Connors, the chairman of neuroscience department, and I was surprised by his great passion, lab facilities, and quality of programs… That’s why I applied to Brown…

By the way, I got recommendation letters from Biology teacher and psychology teacher…
I also got supplementary recommendation letters from the neurology professor who was the corresponding author of my paper and the elementary school teacher who was in charge of my club activities…

Personally, I have no idea how strenuous the application process is for International students, but considering the past records of Minjok students as well as your individual accomplishments, I am certain that you have a great chance in Brown ED. :)

… but considering that you will not be applying to domestic institutions, do you have some safeties abroad?

You have really good subject tests to counter your “low” sat1, which is still good. you have very good shot with your balanced ec’s

SAT is a little low, and you’re an international from a very competitive country. Your commitment to science is really exceptional though, as well as your published paper. Brown ED is probably a match, it’s a really impressive resume.

Washington University in St. Louis - match
University of Pennsylvania - match, probably
Emory University - low match
UCSD - low match
Duke - match
Cornell - match, but they’ve turned down people with higher stats
MIT - hard to say
Northeastern - why? are you sure you don’t mean Northwestern? match
UC Berkley - match, but UCs are very strange
John’s Hopkins - slight reach, you’re international
Oberlin - match

Um… your pretty much in… My brother teaches English in Korea and says its the coolest country in the world!

If you’re applying ED I’d be surprised if you don’t get in. SAT I scores are not the best, but still very good. SAT IIs make up for it. GPA is great, ECs are remarkable. Chance me please?

Thanx!!! PolandSpring123!! I chanced back~

really impressive resume outside of school. SATs are absolutely everything. yours are still very good even if not amazingly high and you make up for it with your gpa and ap scores. i think brown will be a great match school for you.

Everything I had to say has already been said, unfortunately. But its looking good from my point of view. Id say Brown ED is a definite possibility for you…, GOOD LUCK!
