i don’t know how schools look at out of country students. it could help or hurt…i feel like schools like brown actually want students from other countries for diversity purposes…i don’t know how many apply from korea

if you were from america i’d be pretty confident saying youll get in

It’s tough to say. If you weren’t international, I’d think you have a great shot… but as an international applicant it’s harder to tell. I definitely think that you have a better shot of being admitted than of being denied, though.

Beautiful SAT 2, Beautiful AP Score. SAT 1 is alright, nothing special. I suppose it’s a little to raise your CR score for ED, but a 50 point increase in CR would have been great.

Your research + internships are excellent. This will make you stand out. That and your exceptionally high scores. You are ED and wellrounded, but you show a passion for science, which correlates with your major.

I’d say low - mid match. 40-60% chance of getting in.

Well, your EC’s are fantastic as are all of your 5s on AP exams. You do have two problems, though. Youre an international student from an Asian country that has an SAT score that isnt 2300+. Don’t get me wrong, your SAT score is great…but most international students applying will have higher scores. So, Brown is probably a reach for you. However, it could happen. Apply to more American schools (including the other ivies) to increase your chances of getting into one of these stellar schools.

Your SAT IIs and ECs are amazing (I’m actually quite interested in that new theory). Good GPA (although colleges look at unweighted). I’d say you have a good shot.

Thanx for good comments!!
Well…about the new theory…
Most researchers began to believe that increase in cerebral serotonin may cause sleepiness after meals after the cerebral oxygenation theory was rebutted…Their ideas were grounded on the empirical data of MIT Professor Richard Wurtman… This serotonin theory is well-known and most commercial magazines and dictionaries including WIKIPEDIA say that serotonin is the main cause
I rebutted this theory and suggested that the interaction between sleep center(POAH) and satiety center(VMH) caused sleepiness after meals…
After people eat meals, VMH gets satiety signals from a lot of complicated manners(hard to explain in brief way…), and inhibits the hunger center(LHA) which is also responsible for arousal… and sleepiness is provoked…

Average SATs, but superb APs and ECs. I’m not super familiar with what Brown, specifically, might be looking for, but it certainly seems like you’re a strong applicant. Get your CR score up and you should be fairly solid.

I’d have to say low reach, but only because you’re international. SAT’s are also a little low, you’d have a really good shot if you could push it up 100 or so points.

Hi Sangwoo. You seem like a worthy applicant to Brown. Although your SAT Reasoning score is a little low for Brown, you have great EC’s, SAT II’s, and AP scores. I’d say your chances are definitely above 50 percent. How is school in Korea? Are you above the competition at your school? How many hours of sleep do you get? I’m just curious. ^^

Thank you~
Well…most American students assume that Korean students work hard…but
in most cases they play a lot kkk me too…
And I sleep a lot…!!
That is why I did research to figure out the mechanism of why people fall asleep after meals…and how L-theanine alleviates the insomnia caused by caffeine…

sorry that it took me so long to chance you back, haven’t been here for a while…
your SAT reasoning won’t hurt you, though it won’t help you stand out either. i guess you’ve heard enough, everything looks decent so, good luck =)

Your EC’s and test scores for the most part are really strong. Being international would be the only thing that would lower your chances of getting in. You are a REALLY strong applicant for Brown

You have amazing research under your belt - that coupled with the amazing SAT2s and APs should give you the boost you need for Brown EC and/or other top schools.

As other posters suggested, SAT1s are only part of the picture.
