Strong recs from English & social studies teachers

You will likely be a qualified, competitive candidate.

Your chances might be better than Duke’s admission rate of 11%.

Don’t get hung up on ECs that are offered by your school - the point is demonstrate that you are having an impact in your community, not that you have a long list of club memberships.

In my opinion, the most impressive item in your record - even more than your academics - is having an album #9 on iTunes. This will make you stand out more than a 4.0UW or 2250 - Duke gets thousands of those applicants. Perhaps I misunderstand the nature of this accomplishment, but I cannot fathom why you have it buried at the bottom of your posting. I would put it first and emphasize it.

Thanks for replying.

It’s not quite as impressive as #9 on all of iTunes, as iTunes Christian is considerably smaller. But nevertheless it is pretty satisfying, haha.

I’ll try to keep that in mind - thanks so much.

Bump, 10 char

Pretty solid. I would focus on the accomplishments that most people wouldn’t have. #9 on iTunes is kind crazy. Also, talk about the smaller school as well.

Bump. Fingers crossed, 3 more weeks!

As a current Duke student, I mean this with all the love in the world: please, please, please go do something else. The ED deadline has passed, your application has been submitted, and your fate is in the AO’s hands now! Others have told you that you have good chances, and you look like a competetive applicant. I know this can be a nerve-wracking time, but enjoy the next few weeks of senior year-- and especially Thanksgiving! You’ve done all you can now.

Current duke student as well. Agree with purpleacorn. Regardless of where you end up, you’ll probably miss senior year and high school at some point in your college career. Relax! You’ve done all you can. Savor the moment and have some fun.

@purpleacorn and @mike2012 Thanks, I definitely need some stress relief, haha.

Hey guys, I’m an international applicant from M’sia. Sat for my SAT 1 in October and here’s the breakdown :

Reading - 620
Maths - 800
Writing - 600
Composite - 2020.

Gimme an honest opinion on whether my application will be considered seriously with these scores! Thanks

@JulesOHM: Pretty scientific name btw. Can you please tell ur subject tests scores?
