bump..........

great resume, but how are going to list all that on the app??

IMO, if you cross the 700 mark in Writing you're in business ;)

yeah.. as hello pointed out, there isnt much space on the apps. space for.. 8 extra-curriculars.
how can you apply as in international when you have been in the country for 5 years? i moved from korea in 8th grade and have been here 4 full years.. going on 5, and am applying as a regular.

your test scores are okay. 630 writing hurts though.
gpa/course load is fine.
extracurriculars- nothing stands out! you've got math team, asian club, chamber music society.. regular clubs. nothing different from the thousands of other applicants.
you've also got music, but it's not like you've won a major competition or anything. all-state alternate in 12th grade. i mean, yeah, it's good.. but it doesnt stand out! from the pool of 10,000+ applicants, you have to make your stelf stand out somehow..

Yes, what is the basis here for applying as an international applicant? And are you sure that is better (for you) than applying as a regular applicant?

i am applying as an international because I do not have a green card and i'm not a citizen.....and how can I make myself stand out?? i'm lost......

this is interesting. is the difference btw regular and int applicants due to different school/education systems and cultural backgrounds, or simply a matter of citizenship and eligibility?

i think its something of both, so you might want to check out what the official line is for your situation as a resident alien.

krbxtigerz, try to make your ec's stand out. Don't you have any national or regional recognitions that would distinguish you from the other applicants?
And, if possible, try to take SAT I again to pull up your verbal score, and that goes the same for the Writing exam. Other than that, you would have a chance. Try to emphasize your music stuff if you think you have singular talent in that area.

I don't think you have a significant chance, as everyone else has stated of late. If you have a 630 in SAT II Writing, the chances are that your essay, on which Harvard puts much emphasis, would not be as good. What are your AP scores? Which school in New York do you attend? All of these factors come into your decision. Are you sure you have good extracurriculars? I think you should probably make your musical abilities stand out, except there are many good musicians who just happen to be asian that have attended camps such as Interlochen and have been a concertmaster or mistress of a major youth orchestra.

Most importantly, the fact that you are here illegally does not make it seem great. First, you have been here for five years; a tourist visa would obviously not cover such a long stay. Have you been receiving visas from the INS every few weeks or so? You want to make sure that this clears up before applying anywhere, especially a private institution like Harvard. Invictus, if he does not have a green card, he is not a resident alien but rather an illegal immigrant in this country. I know many people in this situation that are currently waiting for their green cards for the past couple of years (as I am also from an immigrant family, but we all fortunately are US Citizens now). I think the aforementioned situation merits more attention than your extracurriculars; you might want to check that you actually can apply than get in trouble with the government.

xjayz....i'm not an illegal immigrant....lol..i'm legally staying in U.S. with R2 visa....i am 100% sure that it is legal. Also for writing score.....i got 730 on writing......100 points increase!! does that make anything better??
also how can I make it so that my music stands out?? i'm sure harvard knows about Juilliard precollege since so many kids applied there from juilliard.....

Definitely. Mention your experience at Juilliard precollege. I think it will be better if you talk about any kind of significant experience while you were attending here.
It's good that you've improved 100 points on the writing exam. However, this score will still be seen as a weak score considering all the other applicants' 800s and 790s.
However, I think you definitely have a chance with your extra music experience and your improved writing score. If time allows, take the SAT I again and try to get above 1450 combined, since that's around the average score of the admitted applicants to Harvard.
