Dear CC Community,

I am a 25 year old college student at a tier two university. I am currently a sophomore double majoring in psychology and political science. I know I am a little older than the average student, but thats due to some mitigating circumstances. I will have a 3.6 gpa by the end of this semester and I understand from Georgetown's website that their average is 3.7.

I was wondering what my chances were of getting into Georgetown? It's been my dream school ever since I even knew about colleges. I have a great story of overcoming adversity. to put it mildly, I'm latin and come from a family of drug smugglers. my mother was incarcerated for almost a decade, my father deported and I was raised by drug addicted family. I barely graduated high school because frankly, I didn't care. I had no ambitions or self esteem. Since then however I've grown. I've become involved with volunteer work, and become motivated with social justice issues. I am hoping to go to law school after my undergrad (Hoyas as well!) I have gone back to school and have been doing well enough to get into the honors college at my university.

My GPA is not competitive I understand. and my extra-curricular activities are weak. yet I have a great story of overcoming adversity, am a minority, and have loads of life experiences. I was wondering what that chances of me getting into Georgetown are? I'm a little late to the game, but I'm here. I'm following my dreams and now I'm in it to win it. please reply.

Particularly admissions counselors and Georgetown students. Thank you.
