My chances for honors fall 2012? Please!

It's either FSU or UF... I'm more in love with FSU, but I just wanted to know what my chances look like for the honors program? The only problem is my ACT score, but I plan to improve that two or three points at least. If I petitioned, I hope I would have a chance...

See: [fsu.edu | Admission](http://honors.fsu.edu/admissions.html)

Yeah, I saw that on there! Thank you very much.
I’m just hoping that because it’s the middle 50th percent, I still find my way into the system somehow.

You’re definitely in if you can get that ACT score up. You’ve got plenty of time. Assuming you’ve only taken the ACT once, it will go up for you as it gets easier each time

I would suggest making a personal appointment with Admissions and Honors.

Good luck!

Hi Charlie!
I’m currently a student at FSU :slight_smile:
I was offered admission into the honors program when I applied, and I think you have nearly the strengths to get in, perhaps your ACT score being your weakness.
As UF goes, I was accepted to UF but not their honors program.
I had a 32 on the ACT, was in the top 4% of my school, passed 10 APs and participated in many clubs. The people I know that got accepted to UF’s honors program all had SAT scores over 1400 or had at least a 33 on their ACT, but I don’t know UF’s actual criteria.
But FSU is awesome! And our honors program is amazing as well :slight_smile: but of course, I’m a little bias ha!

Charlie: daughter got a 31 on ACT; 1930 on SAT; top 9% in HS class; with 5AP classes–invited into the Honors Program!

You look very strong for the program!! Are you going in the Fall2011?

oops! just saw that you said 2012! good luck!!

Update: Got accepted to Brown ED and the PLME! :)

What kind of scholarships does FSU offer to Honors students???

My junior D has similar stats:
ACT: 30 (will take again); 3APs junior year; 4 APs senior year; 4.0 GPA;
Officer in Beta and NHS; Dance team; talented theatre;

She would love to go to FSU for musical theatre…

If she has a great weighted GPA, which seems like she does by looking at her unweighted GPA, then she’ll get the highest scholarship of $9,600 spread over four years. A 30-31 with that GPA will usually cause them to offer the applicant a spot in the honors program. Additionally, she’ll be getting FAS (Florida Academic Scholars) from Bright Futures, which is the highest level.

As for musical theatre, it’s one of the most competitive theatre programs in the United States. You must audition in late fall, fill out all the required forms that entail resumes, letters of recommendations, photos, etc… anything that you’d find in an actor/singer’s portfolio. Though tedious, it pays off if you can get into the program. It’s extremely difficult to get a spot, and just slightly less competitive than Tisch. She should still go to FSU regardless of her major because there are a lot of theatre opportunities on the campus. It’s the best Liberal Arts-like school in the state and definitely the most artsy in terms of prestige.

Break a leg! :)

We are OOS, so no Bright Futures for her!

Just about all Musical Theatre programs are competitive. She’s also looking at UCF, but would love FSU.

I’ve heard that Florida…like Louisiana … has cut budgets for state colleges. So, not sure what kind of money she would get. There aren’t any good MT programs in LA state schools and while Tulane has one, it’s close to home and costs too much!!!

UGH…
