My chances for Northwestern ED? Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

Hello! I am an incoming high school senior (will graduate 2011). I am cuban & puerto rican. After having visited NU, I am almost sure that I will apply ED. I plan to go into engineering. I am not looking for an ego-boast here, I just want to know if it seems like I'm wasting my time with NU. Any type of recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much guys :)

Oh, and I'm a girl :D

I know my grades aren't that great, but they are on an upwards climb. I am fairly confident that my senior year grades will be similar to my junior year. Also, i am wondering if my chances are at all affected considering that I am a hispanic female going into engineering? I also really liked Brown and Lehigh. Anyway, thank you for any advice/response!

You could try the ACT, since a lot of people that go to Northwestern use it, plus, for some reason, it’s apparently easier.

Oh, and if your subject tests are not great, don’t worry, I have several friends that got in without them.

thanks rocky. the bit about the subject tests is particularly reassuring- i’m stressing out about the physics test!

U should definitely try the ACT. Yeah your loaded with leadership which is great  But does Northwestern consider freshman year?

Hmm i’m not sure about that, I think I’ll email them with that question. Hopefully they don’t, but I guess it shows some improvement

Though, your literature subject is pretty good, as it is a very hard test, so I guess you could just send them what’s good. They recommend 3, but I doubt they would say “3 or nothing”.

Welcome.

It looks to me like you screwed up your freshman year… Same here. The upwards trend will look good. And the As in Math classes after the C in Algebra 1 will probably make up for it.

yeah freshman year really killed me. its one of the few things I regret about school :(
