I am a Junior in High School and I have begun my college process, as of right now I currently have a low GPA of 3.12 but on the rise and I am projected to finish Junior year with a 3.20. I have pretty good SAT scores with a 560 in reading a 670 in math and a 520 in writing totaling a 1750 or a 1230 depending on the scale choice but i have only taken them once and I am planning on taking them twice more, and will hopefully improve a lot in every section. I will have 4 seasons of Junior Varsity sports and 3 seasons of Varsity sports by the time I graduate High School. Also i will have taken 1 honors course and 2 AP courses during High School. I am also planning on doing a lot of volunteer work this summer and I am thinking of doing a 2 week program at summer school to earn me 3 college credits. My dad is also an alumni to the school which should help me. Online it says the average GPA for Penn State is a 3.5 which worries me because I am below that. I went to the college to visit and they said that if you are really serious they said we should apply to enter during the summer which means we would start school in July instead of August with the rest of the freshman. I wouldnt really like to do this but if it is necessary i will. Do you think i would be able to enter regularly or should i apply for during the summer to make my chances higher. Be honest please, and i would also like so advice from current students at Penn State.

PSU has become a very desirable school with the state of the economy and the relative low cost of PSU…many very qualified students, who several years ago,may have gone elsewhere are now choosing PSU…you’d likley be accepted, but not sure if you’ll get MAIN or a sattelite, and i’d pass on the satellite

WOW, that’s a big piece of text.

Do you live in Pennsylvania?

Apply for communications major and yes for summer. I and many friends were only offered summer with GPA & scores higher

Unfortunately I dont live in Pennsylvania

also i would only go to penn state if i was accepted to the main campus unless for some reason all of my other choices denied me which I doubt they will
