I have just applied to Salve Regina for the fall of 2010. Naturally, I'm anxious about my chances. Anyone who has experience would help. I have a 92.74 unweighted GPA with all honors courses junior and senior year plus 2 current AP's. My SAT score is a 1900 (630 R, 580 M, 690 W). My rank is 26 out of about 180-190 students. Any feedback helps, thanks.

I’d say you’re pretty much in. I also had an A GPA, an SAT score comparable to yours, and some APs. Salve isn’t known as a particularly “intellectual” school (many of the students here, even the ones older than me, shock me with their ignorance on a regular basis), so admissions jumps at the chance to take anyone who can boost our averages. If you’re applying for the more competitive nursing program though, you might be subject to a stricter selection process. Still, I’d say don’t worry about it.

When will Salve send out the decisions? Has anyone heard yet?

I’m pretty sure the decisions are mailed on December 15.

Every thread I’ve looked at says this is a terrible school.

I applied regular decision in about December, although applications were not due until Feb. When do you think I will hear from Salve?

My daughter applied January 11, regular decision, and got her acceptance and merit award February 4 (last week). Good luck!

Confusing application process… You would have thought the ones who sent in their apps. first would hear first.

Have you checked with the admissions office to make sure all parts of the application are there? They may be missing the transcript, SAT scores, etc. Might be worth a call or email.

called Salve’s hotline today and all my things are in…She said April 1st, but i most likely will hear earlier, correct?

I don’t know why my daughter got hers so soon, if they said April 1! It doesn’t make sense that she would hear before you, because she sent her app a month after you. I just don’t know! Good luck!

Salve is not on a rolling basis. This means that we do not have a specific time frame in which we guarantee to have reviewed and sent a decision out by based on the day your application was complete.

The main reason why some students may receive their decisions before others are due to the fact that there are multiple layers to this process. For one, every student and every high school is different. So, every application deserves individualized attention that may require more time than others. Also, different admissions counselors on staff utilize different ways of organizing and reviewing their own load of applications. Finally, a submitted common application does not make a complete application. For instance, it may be taking longer for the supplementary materials (transcript, SAT scores, letters of recommendations, etc.) to arrive in our office and get processed into our system. At Salve, no application is reviewed until all of these have been received.
