Essay 1
-Mainly about growing up as a Chinese-American in a predominately African American neighborhood and how I grew from overcoming racial hate crimes (none to very little signs of racism if one was wondering, I only mentioned the racial background once, for the essay setting's sake.

Short Answers
1. How friends told me not to take AP Physics due to the fact that it was an advanced course mostly taken by seniors, and how I managed to stay on course while being a junior.
2 Talks about my internship experiences at Citigroup
3. Touched upon how my interests were random and I was undecided. How the sciences lead a direction, and how SU could offer that.

I would think you’ll do fine. Your GPA is a bit low, but your SAT score is good enough. Good luck! I dunno how short answer number one will go over…it sounds a bit strange. Primarily because there are lots of ppl who are ahead…actually, most ppl are ahead in coursework in my public school. But, perhaps your area is different. I think your essay one is pretty good topic. Black ppl can b brutal…I would know, cuz i am one. haha
Your lack of leadership might impair you, but otherwise, your coursework is clearly above and beyond typical students at syracuse…u will do well, if not at syracuse, somewhere else.

…wait. do u mean that you lied in your essay 1?

To the above poster, I think he meant that he didn’t show racism to those who had committed the racial hate crime. For example, “It wasn’t a rare occurrence for such a thing to happen. There were a lot of critics of African descent in my neighborhood, sneering faces and flexing arms and all (or what from what one could see from their baggy clothing and flat-brimmed hats.)” Or something. He’s just saying he tried to address it without any bias or anger.

I feel like you’d need a better SAT score, but maybe I’m wrong.

Maybe, but then again maybe not. This school isn’t that selective in arts and science…in my opinion. Now, if your applying to newhouse, Id have a safety school if i were u. Just in case…

thanks, there were many views on my discussion but I wondered why no one gave me any opinions.

as for ‘lying’, no. Mojeniebo was correct, I attempted to avoid any bias judgment or racism.

I applied for Arts and Sci Major with a communications minor.

target school; not safety; but by no means a reach

You’ll get in for sure, because I got in with lower grades…But then again, I applied as an international applicant (from Hong Kong). I recieved my “acceptance letter” via email just this thursday.

i think you have a great shot man i hope you get in!
