Could you guys please evaluate my chances. I know Im just an average applicant, so I really want to know what make those accepted differentiated.

I am a little surprised that you scored 770 on the writing section of the SAT given your sub-par grammar in this post. You may not have to take the TOEFL test because of this, so you’ll want to look into that.

I just checked Columbia for example, and they say this: “If you have a 650 on the Critical Reasoning or Writing sections of the SAT, you are exempt from taking an English proficiency examination.”

Uchicago - match
MIT - low reach (hard for everyone)
Upenn - match
Johns Hopkins - low reach
Cornell - low reach
Rice - match
Emory - match
UC-Berkeley - low reach (hard for everyone)
CMU - match
Virginia - match
NYU - match
U-rochester - would think this as a safety
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute - high match
University of Minnesota TC - match

Uchicago: Reach (write stellar essays and you might have a chance; beware of the exotic prompts)
MIT: Reach
Upenn: Reach
Johns Hopkins: High match
Cornell: Reach
Rice: High match
Emory: Match
UC-Berkeley: Match (if willing to pay full freight; asking for financial aid is a big no-no there)
CMU: High match/reach (depending on whether you want CS/engineering or not as a major)
Virginia: Match
NYU: Low match
U-rochester: Safety
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute: Safety
University of Minnesota TC: Safety

^^ I use the term high match to denote schools that are pretty hard to get into and low matches when you have a good chance to get in. Some people would do the reverse, though.
