My chances for university park?

GPA- 3.42/4.0 (unweighted), 3.95 (weighted)

8 ap classes.

Holds a job at a local Subway.

Extracurricular activities- Member of wrestling team and robotics team, treasurer to FBLA (future business leaders of America), won second in the state in job interviewing last year at the FBLA state conference, 100+ hours of volunteer work.

SAT score- 1700 first time taking it, waiting on my November results (come out tomorrow!)

Outstanding letters of recommendations.

Race- Hispanic

I am applying to the Smeal College of Business and I have chosen the optional summer at University Park, I also applied to Mont Alto, so if I dont have much of a chance getting in University Park, do you think I can still make Mont Alto and transfer to University Park later on? I submitted my application in early November so I also made early action.

Anyone, anyone at all?

Anyone? Please, I’m really nervous

I’d say you have a great shot, but I would work on your SAT,
how’d you do on your SAT??? if you got over 1900, I would say youre a solid candidate.
your GPA seems low for UP, but I would still give a shot.

don’t get discouraged!! you never know admission’s decisions =P

my sat score came in, its an 1840, so I dont know if that’s good enough…

congrats on raising 140 points!!
remember, it’s not all about SATs and GPA, it’s also about quality and your interest.

Your EC’s seems nice, and it looks like you have taken some hard courses :)

I hope you get in!!!

Penn state is in my top 3, along with Boston University and UMBC…

I am worried about my gpa however, its much below the Penn State average. And its a downward trend, as last year I had a lot of personal issues to deal with, (gpa was a 3.7+ before). I hope that does not deter my chances because I am back to straight A’s now that I have my personal life settled down…

If you get rejected, see if you can change your college to DUS. It’s much easier to get in if you’re undecided since the colleges themselves have their own GPA requirements to get into. You can apply to Smeal once you are a student there.
