Hello everyone! I’m a female rising senior that lives in Virginia and attends a rural public high school.
Race: Hispanic
Age: 17
SAT: CW-630, M-600, W-610 (1840)
GPA: (unweighted) 4.083
Academically, I’m in the top 10 of my class.
Extracurriculars
MGA (Model General Assembly) - 3 years
Varsity Cross Country - 3 years
Girl Scouts - 4 years
Attended Governor’s Japanese Academy 2014 (a highly selective summer program)
Volunteering/Other
Volunteering at local Hospice thrift store - 100+ hours
Part-time math tutoring - 10+ hours
I also play guitar and have been teaching myself Japanese for 2 years or so. I am very interested in the Japanese language and culture and hope to at least minor in Japanese. I’ve actually spoken with the head of the Japanese department at UVA. As for my major, I’m thinking either Japanese (if I decide to become a Japanese teacher) or something else science-related.
I haven’t received my AP scores yet for the AP classes I took junior year (APUSH, AP Psych, AP Human Geo), but they should come in soon. I might get a job this summer as well, but I’m still undecided. Also, not sure if this matters at all, but my older brother currently goes to UVA.
Thanks to all!
