my chances for VA schools?

Hi, i'm a junior and i want to know: What are the best colleges in Va that I have chances for? Here are my stats so far or estimated stats of what i will have by college admissions time.

GPA: 3.71
SAT (based on practice tests): 1350+, (or 1900+ out of 2400)
APs: I plan to take 7 throughout high school but maybe 8. This year, I am taking AP US history, AP Chemistry, and AP English lang with estimated AP scores of 4,3/4,5, respectively.
Extracurriculars: I'm on the debate team and I have won a few medals if that counts for anything.

My counselor said I have decent chances for UVA which would be nice, but my friend with similar stats was told by his counselor that UVA is a safety for him. (and he has no extracurricular stuff)

Well, thanks in advance. Anything else I should add?

for ECs, i should probably add band two years, science honor society (in which i might get a good position), National honor society, possibly model UN now that debate is practically over, cross country freshmen year, and i have volunteered 50-something hours at a hospital and am currently tutoring at a library.

I think you have a great shot at UVA and William & Mary. James Madison or Virginia Tech would be good safeties for you, too.

Good luck!

I'm assuming you're in-state, which would make UVA/WM probable matches. If your friend has similar stats sans EC's, then UVA is not a safety for him. A match, yes, but not a safety.

thanks, those are the schools i sent my SAT scores to. I'm worried about my AP exam scores, however. My AP chem teacher is the worst teacher that i have ever had and right now, I only think i can pass the test with a 3, maybe a 4. Is that bad?

Are you in state? If not UVA is a big reach If so.. match or slight reach.

AP scores will not factor into admissions. If you're instate, you have a good shot at W&M and UVA. If not, there're reaches. JMU and VT are safeties in either case.
