I will be a senior come this fall. I was planning on applying to UGA under the Early Action plan. However, I took the SAT in June and scored pretty low. My reach is the UGA Honors Program. Money isn't a concern. I'd also like to know when you apply and when you find out if you get in the Honors program? Should I retake the SAT in October and just apply under Regular decision to increase my chances for the Honors program? What are my chances? Any advice is welcomed! Thanks alot guys.

SAT I (June 2005) : 2010 (690-Verbal 660-Math 660-Writing)
SAT IIs: 740 World History, 790 on US History
PSAT (11th grade) : 208

APs taken during high school (including senior year) : AP World History, AP US History, AP Calc AB, AP Pyschology, AP English 12

I have gotten 5s on AP World and 5 on the AP US, and expecting 5s on all APs I take.

School: Competitive, Top 5 Public school in entire state.

Extracurriculars: not many. not much worth mentioning atleast.

Race: Asian

So what's the advice? Should I retake the SAT in October? I know I can boost my score by atleast 100-200 points overall. I will also try to bust my butt the first semester of senior year trying to get straight As. Should I still apply Early or will that hurt my chances in getting into the Honors Program? Right now, I am so craving getting into the Honors program, but I don't want to risk applying regular and not getting in. Please please please help me!

I think that you apply EA and they send you an application letter into the honors program or they just send you a letter saying that you are in. I am not positive. I think you will definitely get in, your SAT is not that bad... its actually above range. UGA doesnt have many asian students so that may help.

Hmm.. yeah you're close, but especially after this year it's gotten much more competitive than one would think. Being Asian is definitely a plus and out-of-state might help you a bit too. Also, just curious, what state are you applying from? If it's not in the states that touch GA, you might get even more of an advantage. . Recalculate your GPA based on the UGA scale (only add .5 to all AP classes) and see where it ends up- I think the average honors GPA is around 4.07 using that scale. Your SATs are around the lower-middle end of the honors range but will probably be fine. I'd suggest visiting the campus and meeting with the honors people, being sure to tell them how much you'd love to be in the program. Definitely try to get all A's next semester and if you don't get invited at first send them your updated transcript and/or new test scores if you decide to retake.

As far as the process, you receive the honors program application a few weeks after you get admitted EA if they think you could be qualified. They'll tell you in the early spring (around early Feb. I think) then if you're in. At least, that's how they did it last year.

Thanks guys! I really hope I have an excellent chance in getting into the Honors Program. So the application process for the Honors Program is completely seperate? I always assumed they looked at what you turned in for the college application and used that to decide if you get into Honors or not. I can definitely boost my SAT scores by 200 points, but that will be in October and I'll get the results back in November. Won't it be too late? And being Asian, will that really help THAT much? Especially with the Honors program? Thanks again for everyone's help. Especially you vig180. I assume you're in the Honors Program (with the FF Scholarship).
Any more advice is welcomed! I cannot say thnaks enough.

See http://www.uga.edu/honors/prospective/apply.html for all the details on the honors application. Since they send the application to you a few weeks after you get admitted, you'll probably have enough time to get the results from your October SAT and send them in. Having a higher SAT couldn't hurt and if you're confident that you can raise your score by that much, then by all means go for it.
