Hi you guys, so right now I am taking a Physics class at UCLA, going into my senior year of high school. I started the class and I cannot understand a word that my professor has said so far (he has a really really heavy accent). I was thinking if I were to drop the class, would it ruin my chances? Over the summer I am already volunteering at the local Hospital, teaching cello to special needs children, working with my school to bring gardening to the curriculum and to kids, and another student and I are being mentored by a Chemistry Professor, where we will be doing a lot of stuff (this is supposed to be a big deal), I don't know much about the stuff that we are doing but think of it as research. In high school I have a 4.0 UW and 2170 SAT Score. I was just wondering if this would jeopardize my chances of getting into some of the Liberal Arts, and Ivies that I want to go to. Thank You.

In my opinion, dropping this class would definitely not have any negative effects, unless of course it goes on your official transcript or counts as an “F”. Just the fact that you wanted to try a college level physics class is impressive enough to ad coms. Hope that helps!

I get the picture, drop the class. I don’t think it will impact your chances for college admissions and you will be so much happier taking physics next year with a professor you can understand.
