I gave my sat test on June 6. At home I was scoring 2100-2200 in the blue book. But on the day of the exam I was not well and the paper didn’t go good. But still I was expecting around 2000. But my marks came out to be 1790
CR- 530
Writing - 620
Maths - 640
Also I am an international student
My gpa is 4 and I stood first in 11th grade and stood in top ten percentile in ninth and tenth . I got 800 in maths level 2 subject test.
I am planning to give the sat again in October. I Am ready to give all it takes. Now if I get a score of 2300 in the second test, will I have a good chance in Cornell. Also I am planning to send applications in the regular decision.
Also I forgot to mention that the teacher recommendations I have are strong, I have given many examinations of drawing and have got good grades. Now if the essays and interview goes good will I get an upper hand.
Your SAT is a bit too low. So try to raise it up. You should try to aim for at least 2000+ in all combined. Your GPA sounds good so I wouldn’t worry about this.
Can you give more background of yourself outside of school? You only provided academic information. CU (and probably other colleges) don’t just look for your academic achievements and grades but also what you do outside of school (Extracurriculars).
And it also depends on the major you want to pursue in Cornell. For example, if you want to pursue hotel admin, then it is recommended that you have work experience (meaning you should to differentiate yourself from others).
OP: International students face the toughest odds. Students with exemplary SATs are really the only viable ones. Good luck but make sure you apply to a wide variety of US schools, if that’s really your goal.
