my chances looking pretty slim to none?

Not sure where I fall for Rice (or any college along that level) , as I just seriously started considering it...the following are my stats :

Asian-American, live in NY

SAT: 9th grade 1100, 10th grade 1450, 11th grade 2250 (~1500)
SAT IIs: 9th grade Bio 670, 11th grade math 700, planning on taking physics or chem in october, then math in december
GPA: 4.71 weighted out of ~5.2
APs: Took Euro, Psych 4, US Hist 4. Plan on taking Eng Lit, Bio, Chem, BC Calc, Comparative Gov/Eco

ECs:
Tennis 9th, track 10th. Dance class 9th, 10th

Violin: leader for district, county, and island orchestras, 97+ on state music tests since level 1 (NYSSMA music judging assessment), volunteer teacher, played in college youth orchestras, member of Tri-M music honor society (1oth)

Science: working at lab at local college to enter Intel competition this summer (10+ hours/day), member of selective science research class

Community: hospital volunteer since summer of 8th grade, soup kitchen volunteer, habitat for humanity

Leadership: co-editor of section of school paper, vp of culture club, secretary of habitat for humanity club

Should I apply ID, ED, reg to improve my chances? (maybe just forget applying there at all?)

thanks!

oh yeah, definately slim to none. not worth it. (sarcasm)

I agree w/ above. I hate it when people think they have no chance whatsover. Like we know anyways...apply, and you never know. You have got great stats, just as great as anybody else. Interview is always key anyways. Good luck.

You have a shot at Rice, and similar schools, but your application list needs to show a range of selectivity. Try to add some 5s to your AP scoring.

And I would definitely look at some of the larger LACs. Rice is definitely a university, but has some LAC-like characteristics.

so smart and yet so silly...I believe that you have quite a fair chance ;)

the first post of this thread is exactly what urban dictionary.com's definition of college confidential is...

Among the worst websites on the internet. A place to go where you can read about snotty geniuses who feel the need to brag in the ultimate attempt to make the "average high school student" feel pity on the themselves. An absolutely awful website that privileges and celebrates the Ivy League-Potential student, while completely forgetting about everyone else.Jonathan from New York: Hello, my name is Jonathan from New York. I was wondering if I could get into any college in the entire universe with these ****ty grades and these terrible credentials. Will someone please help me!?
