I am going to be a senior in high school. (still in summer vacation) What are my chances of being accepted into UCs or Cal states?

GPA:
3.3 weighted, 2.9 unweighted

I have a upward trend.Freshman year: average of 2.6 weighted gpa, Sophomore year: average of 2.9 weighted gpa, Junior year: 1st semester 3.6 weighted and 2nd semester 4.0 weighted gpa
I took 2 AP classes both sophomore and junior year.

SAT: 1730

Community Service: freshman year-200, sophomore year- 200, junior- 350

Extra curricular: Robotics, few club positions, taking community college classes (currently 2), making an art portfolio, went abroad during the summer of sophomore year for environmental and social research, orchestra for 4 years, worked as an art guard at a museum, worked as a tutor,

If you guys can get back to me that would be great!

Even with your good EC’s and your upward trend of your GPA, your chances are very low for the UC’s except possibly UC Merced or Riverside. I would still apply to both UC’s but you should be looking more closely at the Cal States or some privates where your STATs would be the average. If you have a good explanation for the low GPA in Fresh/Soph years, that may help your cause if address them in your essays. You need to calculate your UC GPA for a better idea of your chances see link:<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;
UC’s are very focused on GPA and I would definitely retake the SAT to help compensate for the low GPA. Use the College Supermatch feature on the website to determine which schools would be good choices. You can filter by location/GPA/Scores etc…

Good Luck

I would say the only UC’s you have a good chance at are Riverside and Merced.

You have a pretty good chance at all cal states aside from Cal Poly. I would consider taking the SAT again or possibly the ACT - getting a higher score will help you tremendously!

Good luck.

As far as UC’s go, shoot for Riverside and Merced.

For CSU’s shoot for San Francisco State, Sacramento, Chico and Northridge. You will probably get into CSULA and Dominguez Hills but it’s a they’re both ugly campuses with bad programs no matter how you look at it.

UC’s & CSU’s only take a 10th & 11th grade weighted GPA. But that doesn’t mean you can ■■■■ up senior year. CSU’s use something called the eligibility index. They take you SAT/ACT and grades to come up with a score. That score is then used to determine you admissions decision.

Calculate and compare your score to others here ----> <a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;

Remember that CSU’s only base your admissions decision off of numbers. UC’s base it off of the content of your character and life experiences through your essays with numbers (grades) as well.
