My G.P.A is kind of low because of my AP classes and also i got Cs from my Pre-Cal class for junior year and from Algebra 2 for my sophomore year. (I am terrible at math)

SAT Score: 1400
ACT Score: 21

What are my chances of going into these schools?
UCSC, UCR, UC Davis, UCSB, Cal state fullerton, Cal state long beach, San jose state university, San diego state university, hofstra university and Syracuse university

I am from California by the way.

I would appreciate if you chance me for these schools :) thank you

Please don’t bash me too hard on my terrible SAT and ACT scores. English is my third language so i believe many times i might have misunderstood the questions or answers.

UCSC - High Reach(Your SAT score is less than their bottom 25th percentile)
UCR - High Match(Send in your ACT score)
UC Davis - High Reach
UCSB - High Reach
Cal State Fullerton - High Match
Cal State Long Beach - Match
San Jose State University - Match
San Diego State University - High Reach
Hofstra University - High Reach(OOS)
Syracuse University - High Reach(OOS)

Your EC is lacking imo.

Does this mean you did community service because NHS REQUIRED you to do them(do x hours of community service)?

I do that because they require it but also i do them because i want to help out my community a bit.

Do you think i even have a chance with UCSC with my ACT scores ?

I actually go over the hours NHS ask of their members

Don’t go to Hofstra University. I live right around there. It’s not worth going to if you’re gonna be 3,000 miles away from home.

Why is that ? I am curious about your answer.

Ur test scores are low but you make up for it with high grades and good ecs. overall i think you will get into fullerton, Long beach, SJSU. You also have a good shot at Riverside.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1583815-chances-diii-wrestling-recruit-will-chance-back.html

The area around the school is terrible (one of the worst on Long Island) and the education is decent but nothing better than an education closer to home. It’s not worth spending 50K a year for

I don’t think that you should blame your low SATs because English was not your first language. A lot of international applicants have perfect SATs and English has not been their first language either. I’ve been speaking English for only about 4 years and my first language was not even closely related to English, yet I was able to get 2180 on my SATs. Just saying…

I am still upset at myself because of the SAT scores because i been going to the prep classes and actually prepare to take the test. Even with all the hard work i put into studying the test i still get an extremely low score. I feel sooo stupid because of my test scores. Right now i hope my activities can make up for my terrible scores. I also stated in additional comments things that happen that cause my grade to become lower/ why i could not join that much clubs on campus. I hope they will understand.

Thanks for your feedback about Hofstra. Now i could look at other schools.

My dream school would be Santa Cruz…Ohhh i hope my grades/activities can make up for my horrible, terrible test scores.

UCSC - High Reach
UCR - High Match
UC Davis - High Reach
UCSB - High Reach
Cal State Fullerton - Low Match
Cal State Long Beach - High Match
San Jose State University - High Match
San Diego State University - High Reach
Hofstra University - High Reach
Syracuse University - High Reach

U need to retake the SAT or the ACT
improving ur scores by even a bit could really help u into getting into these schools
u could try a few campuses of pennstate though
ur EC’s are fine for now
ur academic rigor is the best thing on ur profile
just take another go at the SAT in jan
All the best :D

Please Chance Back :)

Thanks for your feedback. It just that i don’t have enough money to take another test/ I got the maximum number of fee waivers i am able to get. I am looking at other schools for now.

IMO, your grades/activities won’t be able to make up for your low test scores.

Right now, I could only hope for the best ! I have to stay positive somehow. I hope they look at my rank also. I just do well in school but just not on test. It’s also weird to me that i could perform well on all my AP classes’ test but not on this one. Well, right now i am going to stay positive :)
