Recycling club
Mentoring for freshman
Internship at an Optometry private practice and I plan to complete one senior year as well

I am the first person to go to college from my family and I know my gpa won't be above a 3.0 but I know it will be somewhat below it by the time I graduate. My PSAT scores are high so I plan to get a high score on the SAT. I really want to go to UGA. Please let me know what my chances are and what I can do to get in. Thank you SO much!

Your GPA is incredibly low. I’d say that even if you had a 3.0 GPA, your chances would still be very low. What is your psat?

You really need to raise your GPA quite a bit to have a chance at UGA.

0% of last year’s class had below a 3.0. In some rare cases, an outstanding SAT score and course rigor can make up for an extremely low GPA. Understand that the point of taking AP courses is to prove to universities that you’ve got what it takes to do well in college. Taking college courses and doing so poorly in them shows that you just want to impress and aren’t college ready. Consider dropping the APs if you can’t handle them. A B in an AP class looks better than a A in an on-level class in my opinion, but if you’re failing/getting Cs consistently then that’s a red flag.

I would recommend the cc route for you. I don’t think you should settle for another 4-year school. t’s very clear that you’re very focused and involved. Because you’re a first-generation things might be difficult for you. I think with some time you will be in a great position to do well in college.

Good luck!

No chance, sorry.

After five semesters averaging 2.16, you can’t mathematically get to 4.0 after eight semesters. However, if you can get your unweighted GPA up to a 2.5 (average in the low to mid 3s for your final three semesters) and get > 960 SAT or > 20 ACT, you could be admitted at Ole Miss.
