Hi everyone. This is probably a really common topic to make, but I’m very curious.
I have a GPA of 4.16 out of 4.5 as of the end of my junior year. I’m a senior now and I’m taking 2 AP classes (AP Lit and AP Euro).
My SAT scores are pretty mediocre due to a bad math score.
Math: 430
Reading: 580
Writing: 610
I also took the SATs on June 2nd which is when they omitted two sections of the test so that might have affected my score. I’m taking the test again in October so hopefully I will be able to bring up the score a bit. My previous Psat scores did not reflect such a bad math score so I have hope it will go up.
For Extra Curriculars:
National Honor Society (Junior/Senior year)
Family Community Leaders (Senior year)
School Newspaper (Senior)
Culture Enrichment Club (Senior)
Friends of Rachel (Freshman/Sophomore year)
Yearbook (Freshman year)
I do about 50 hours of community service a year so I will have done approx. 100 hours from Junior-Senior year.
I plan to major in Journalism.
I will also being applying for early action (not sure if that will improve my chances).

Hi, I’m also applying, from the research I have done this is what I think.
-The gpa is definitely good enough for Emerson though the weird scale throws me off a bit.
-Your sat score is very low, the only number that fits into the middle 50% range is writing. I think it would definitely be in your best interest to raise your math score as much as possible.
-Your extracurriculars are good, but there is nothing stand out. Have you ever won any contests related to Journalism? If you have I would definitely include it somewhere on your application.
-The early action will help you out a little bit.
In my opinion I think you have a shot and I hope you get in. I’m definitely not an admissions counselor so take everything I say with a grain of salt.
Hey @kitter I just checked the Application Portal and they haven’t posted the decisions but they have opened the section for when we will be able to check it. I have applied for the WLP program. I am terribly anxious! Good luck to everyone who has and will submit an application!
