My Chances of Getting into Bowdoin College?

I was wondering what my chances were at getting into Bowdoin College. I'm planning on applying early decision there in a month because I really love the school, especially the science programs. Here's what I have to work with...

A highlight of mine is that I created an event called the Cape Cod Shark Paddle. It is a series of stand up paddle board races to raise money for Shark Research. I organized it for the past 2 years and raised about $2150. I even got written up in the paper because of it. Now, I am the Youth Outreach Coordinator for the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy.

I am really strong in the extracurricular activities. I am the varsity cross country captain and have been doing cross country for 4 years. I ran winter track for 2 years and, spring track for a year, and spring crew for 2 years. I usually had a sport every season except when I had a chronic injury and skipped a season of winter track. I am a coxswain for our girls varsity crew team as well. I have been on student council and student senate for 3 years, I'm in green club, and have been in the school band for 4 years. I went to a science camp this year over the summer for week (I'm not sure if this helps).

I have gotten some awards including the Tufts Science award and got second place at a speech contest held by the Lions Club. I am part of the Honor Society. I also had about 130 hours of community service last year as I volunteer at a Retirement Home every week for 3 hours.

In terms of numbers I have a 3.88 GPA and got a 1940 on my SATs. I am fully aware that these are on the lower side but hope that everything else makes up for it. I have taken AP classes and a lot of honors classes. I would love some opinions! Thanks!

I’m looking at Bowdoin as well, so keep in mind my opinion is just as a prospective student!
Is 3.88 you weighted GPA? Because if so then yes, that is on the low side, but if its your UW GPA I’d say thats a great GPA.
I think your extra curriculars are pretty strong and may give you an edge. Bowdoin is also really into diversity so I’m not sure what you identify as but could be helpful???

Also it does help that you are applying ED.

Overall, I’d say it is a reach but I’m also not an admissions counselor!

Thank you so much for you opinion! I believe the 3.88 is my weighted GPA but I’m talking to my guidance counselor to confirm soon. I am also white…so I don’t think Bowdoin will want me because of my diversity in that area. Does being Jewish mean anything? I also sailed around Cape Cod on a small sail boat. Again I have no idea if personal experiences of that nature play into this at all.
