im a high school senior with a weighted 3.92 gpa (not great i know...)
by the time i graduate, i will have taken 7-8 ap tests and 4-5 honors classes
i will be taking the act in september and ill b retaking the sat in october (original score is 1840, 630 reading, 610 math -____-)
im in the top 9% of my graduating class (does that help at all?)
i want to major in civil engineering, industrial technology, or industrial engineering
im a girl does that help any? :P hehe
i also have done around 90 hours of volunteer work and then 50 hours of internship
i am in the process of creating a business (t-shirt/shoe designs)
i won $800 from art competitions?(im not sure if that is relevant or not :/)
and im a captain for the girls varsity cross country team (varsity since freshman year), received the "fastest newcomer award" freshman year and broke the freshman mile time for my league my freshman year for track

but i dont have straight As in math and science.....
im not even taking honors math courses....
but i am going to take the ap calculus test in may
and i am going to be in honors physics this incoming fall (wasted my time on ap biology the previous year....T^T)

cal poly slo is my dream school so i am applying early decision and i would like to know my chances of making it in
please tell me honestly!thank you very much for your time and consideration, especially reading all this (and im really sorry if it sounds like im bragging....)
um yes so thank you very much!
have a nice day :)

i am also interested in electrical engineering but is that out of my reach?

You have chance if you can lift your SAT score. Trying taking the ACT too if you think SAT is maxed out.

EE is usually a bit more competitive for admission than Civil. Industrial engineering is probably the easier engineering admission wise.

Being a girl does help since there are not enough girls in engineering at Cal Poly.

thank you very much blindmonkey! you have given me hope
also i am retaking the sat in october and i am taking the act in september so yes i shall try to get them up!
again, thank you very much for the information! have a wonderful day :)

Hey mochi, no problem. Ask me more questions if you like. I am an engineering major at Poly now. If you really want to make sure you get in, apply to an easier engineering like IE then change into EE or CE. Good luck!

What is your GPA unweighted?

Um I believe its 3.7 something?
Why?do they look at that more than weighted?

Thanks for chancing me! uhhhhh. You know how slo is in that they are becoming extremely selective in the past years. Your SAT score would be a tad too low for slo who only look at numbers. G.P.A is fine and since you are applying ED im sure that has to count for something. Overall I would say you are a HIGH MATCH to LOW REACH. its not impossible but be sure that you have a few great safeties. SLO has been my dream school since 8th grade and I feel the same way as you its just ill never know until Christmas when I get that email deciding if I will be happy or sad for the next four years.
Anyway…GOOD LUCK!
