My chances of getting into QuestBridge

Hey, I’m first-generation applying to QB and wanted advice on my chances of becoming a finalist.
-GPA is 4.01 W (my school doesn’t do UW)
-Class rank is 45/609 top 10%
-SAT score is 1110 (I’m taking it again)
-IB Honors student ( 4 & 5 on IB exams)
-also will be taking ACT

  • my mom makes 35,00 and my dad makes 25,00 but my parents are separated and I only live with my mom so I hope they won’t heavily consider my dad’s income because he refuses to pay for my college tuition
-Honors and awards: 3 times varsity letter recipient(9,10,11), 2x Outstanding leadership award, Jefferson outstanding leadership book award, William & Mary outstanding leadership book award, HOBY leadership ambassador, interviewed on ‘Good Morning Washington’ for being an outstanding student leader.
-Extracurriculars: SALC President (12) Vice president (11), 2x president of peer diversity club, NHS, CFA Leadership Academy, basketball manager

I think it really depends on your ACT score. Btw, I went to HOBY too!

Do you have a zero EFC?

Yes, your father’s Income will count.

You meet most of the requirements, also don’t get too much on his/her ACT/SAT score, know two people of my school that got matched with a bit above >1200 and below <1200 to top 20 USNWR schools on Questbridge… if you live in California vs Alabama schools will know their are different standards

This is meant for low-income students after all, who CAN’T afford tutoring among other things… this is not a way out of bad grades but should be considered along your profile… make sure to get good teacher recs among other things

I really wish people would stop with the tutoring, no tutoring thing. There are many resources for low income students to utilize, either from books free at the library and online sites. Being low income without the ability to hire a tutor is not a reason to justify your SAT or ACT score being lower than others.

@CottonTales Exactly. I worked my butt off with practice ACT tests, and I scored a 35.
