My chances of getting into these Film Schools

Hello there! I've been prowling around the forums for about 2 weeks now and just created an account. I decided to ask you all for your assistance in determining my chances of getting into the following FILM SCHOOLS for a major in FILM PRODUCTION. They're arranged in the order I want to go to the most (top being the most):
- NYU Tisch
- University of Texas at Austin
- Rhode Island School of Design
- Emerson College
- Columbia University

- Purchase Collage (New York)

My GRADES are not the best. I had a 3.8 GPA freshman year, but over the course of the last year (currently junior), it went down to a 3.27 GPA. Here are my current academics:
- GPA: 3.27
- SAT: 1900
- ACT: 30
- Multiple AP courses taken
- 50 hours of community service
- Member of Computer Club
- Made it to States in DECA competition

- Active member of my school's Entrepreneurship Academy

My PORTFOLIO is fantastic, however. I'm pretty much riding on this:
- Won 1st place in the Documentary category in a respected student film festival
- President of my TV Production class
- Internship at a respected youth film company filming, editing, writing, narrating, etc (I'll have 50 hours working for the company by the end of February. The 'president' also told me that my work is the best she's ever seen from one of her interns)

- Completely wrote 3 screenplays (30 pages, 15 pages, 18 pages) in proper format

My portfolio is set. So, MY QUESTION is this: will great essays, this portfolio, and great teacher recommendations, outweigh the sad academics? I know the combo will not make me competitive, but do I at least have a shot at the schools mentioned. Thank you so much in advance, and if you have any questions just let me know.

Have a great one!

I’d say your best match is Emerson. Some people are keen on the fact that GPA is very important for Emerson but they want to see that you have a real passion for your major and that you are able to lead others with that passion. From your portfolio they may overlook the GPA and accept you. Give it a shot and show them that you have passion for film in your essays!
