My GPA is way less than impressive, a 3.0 unweighted, 4.0 weighted, and my SAT scores are not where I'd like them to be. I got 28 on my ACT, and I'm in IB.
Positive things:
-IB
-Captain of high school swim team 3 years (I'm still a junior)
-Captain of high school water polo team 3 years.
-Started Science National Honor Society at my school
-Started Keyettes at my school (female-only key club)
-In beta club
-In debate club
-Part-time job
-UF legacy (most of my family has gone there)
-1/8 Native American (people say that helps)
-28 on ACT
-150+ hours of community service
-Teen court

I plan on applying for the Political Science program at UF. If I don't get in, I think I might die. This has been my dream school since I knew what school was. I really want to know what my chances are for getting in. I screwed around my freshman and sophomore year, and that messed up my GPA. I'm hoping maybe the fact that I'm in IB will help make that seem less important. Help? Please?

I’d say there’s reason for hope. Behold, the Scatter Plot of Great Justice:

There are a few greens among the rejections at that margin-- I’d be willing to bet those are students like you who offer excellent ECs to compensate. Work on those scores, and see if you can raise your GPA even fractionally, it’ll help.

Chance back please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1118399-chance-theatre-acting-inclined-junior-ill-chance-you-back.html

Whoops, that link is broken. Go to **************.com, search ‘University of Florida’, and click on the sidebar that says “Admissions”. You’ll see the plot in question.

You’re kidding me, these guys censor the name of the competition. How outrageous… The website is c.ollege p.rowler (one word, of course).

well what was your sat score?

it was a 1210
my problem is that the writing doesn’t count. I got a perfect score on the writing on the ACT, but I can’t think of my writing score for the SAT.
