My Chances out of state?

I don't know if it is any harder for an out of state student to get into UMD, but here is what I have:

WGPA: 100.00% school doesnt use 4.0 system

Class rank: 3/306 or top 0.9%

Have taken all AP or honors courses if offered throughout high school, currently taking the following classes:
AP Calculus AB
AP French
AP Chemistry
AP English
Psychology and Contemporary Writers as electives (not offered as honors or AP)

SAT: math = 670 verbal = 640 writing = 590 with a 9 essay

Extra curricular activities, the main stuff:

Captain of varsity swim team = 4 years, 4 varsity letters, 3 time qualifier for districts

Secretary of French club = 4 years

Sunday school teacher = since 1999, 1 hour per week

Key Club member = 4 years, special olympics participant, at least 40 hours a school year

National Honor Society Member

Awards:
Wendy's High School Heisman Award

I would think you have a really good shot at it. If you check out their website for 2005 fall matriculants - you're right in the thick of it. GGT

i am a current honors/gemstone student here on a full ride and i have to say id be surprised if you didnt get honors. if you stress science/research in your "finding your niche" section of the app you could get gemstone as well. gemstone likes people who arent just smart, but like to think about their future in the context of developing team research experience. i talked about this in my app, and wasnt expecting to get gemstone but i did.

it's a little more competitive for out-of-state students, because the state mandates that UMD take approximately 70% in-state students.

but i'd say that you're in...your SAT scores are fine, and your GPA is great.
