My chances?!...please help

I am applying to Amherst RD and am a legacy

My SATs are M750 V700 W660
SAT IIs are Math 2- 740 and lit. 680
I have gotten everything from 3’s to 5’s on 6 AP tests

My GPA is 3.71 UW but my class rank stinks… it is top 20%

I have a few, but very time consuming extra curriculars all revolving around either music or community service…
I am the president of two community service clubs (one for the last three years and NHS for senior year), I am also the vice president of another community service club.
I have also received my Gold Award (like an Eagle Award but for girl scouts)
I have also been in Marching Band (and the highest wind ensamble) for all four years

I haven’t really won any awards. (ah!)

Do you think I have any chance of getting in?!?! Please be honest

How much do your parents donate?

It's tough to say. Legacy mostly only helps with ED applicants, unless your parents happen to be big donors. It could give you a little boost, though. I think it's definitely worth a shot, if you really want to go here.

My parents aren't huge donors.

I didn't apply ED because the Dean of Admissions told me not to (I was planning on it before I talked with him).

Why did the Dean of Admissions tell you not to apply ED?

I don't know..but it made me really upset

Who says you never won an award? Gold Award is AWESOME! It shows great character and drive. Legacy or not, your essays will need to be stellar. Yes, you need good grades and test scores, but it's who you are on top of that that gets you in. You have passion instead of a long list of fill-up-the-resume EC's. That counts for more these days. Just work on those essays and cross your fingers. Good luck!

My guess is that your first semester grades senior year are going to be really important for you; it sounds like admissions wants to see these grades before making a decision.

hello, here are my stats
male from Nepal

A-levels from Budhanilkantha School (rated no. 1 in the country).... Econonmics A, business A, Math A, Further Math A, General Paper c.
Ranked 3 out of 90

SAT I , Oct 14
CR 750
Math 770
Writing 680

SAT 2 took on nov 4
Math1 760
Math2 800

ECs not much

The highest post I have got is that of a Joint Secretary. lol. well actually i was a house captain in Class 8 , but i dont think that counts.

I have done some volunteering in Kanti Children's Hospital as a Social Action Volunteer, worked in Old Age Homes and Donated blood a few times. I was also a executive member of Red Cross Circle in school and we did a few things.

I dont know how much my EC is going to help me.....

I know someone who applied last year and had a better GPA and higher test scores than you and didn't get in. The person's ec's were very good too. This year will be even more competitive than last year so your chances are not great. Be sure to apply to other schools that you want to attend.
