I'm out of State and applying for Fall 2010.

I've filled out the Application just not sure if I'm willing to take the rsk and mail it in.

Want to be an Aerospace Engineering major

My UW GPA(3.03) and W GPA(3.07) are the same basically.

My ECs aren't much
Was in Varsity track for 11th grade but didn't win anything but I'm doing it again this year.
Did a four week Engineering program from oct to the middle of Nov.
went to College fairs over the summer and during the school year
Help fundraise for a community service program thats run through my school but that doesn't count towards any hrs done.
Taking 3 college credit courses No APs since I'm not qualified and the ones that I am qualified for are and were full.
I am apart of a Pre engineering program but we only meet once a week.

you really need to step it up to get in. i suggest applying for summer, but even then, your GPA and SAT combo are a bit too low =/ study study study for that SAT! if not, try the ACT like everyone has been saying. the lower your GPA, the higher they expect your test scores to be to make up for it.

Is there anything else I can do to increase my chances such as taking the Subject test? Or doing more ECs my school is offering programs and my Med Careers class makes me volunteer at the hospital.

i am out of state
gpa: 3.3 UW and 3.4 W
SATS: 1130
Varsity soccer player for 3 years
I play club soccer as well
I took 1 AP and 2 honors (spanish)

To be honest, I don’t think you stand a chance for fall term anyway. And since you are out of state, it’s just that much harder. I do suggest taking the ACT but if you can’t, you need to re-take the SAT ASAP and study for it! Many people on this forum noted that applying early helps, and I think it does also. They are getting a lot of applications, so send yours in ASAP. Just send it in now… and whatever scores you have, send those in later when you take the test.

At this point, I don’t think joining a whole bunch of clubs or getting more volunteer hours would help… And don’t start taking the SAT subject test either… just focus on the SAT alone.

Best of luck! Don’t wait till the last minute to apply!

By the way, if you want to attend the school, you would go even if it’s over the summer. That’s what I’m doing. My stats are a little borderline so I applied for summer and got accepted in 2 weeks and 5 days! (Found out 2 days ago). I think it will be worth it.

I got accepted with a 3.4 uw, 3.8 w, and 3.6 UCF GPA. 22 ACT. Joined 2 clubs Junior year, VP of one, and I’m CP of one club this year, but just quitted a while ago. 102 community hours. Will have taken 6 AP and 6 honor courses by graduation… Asian, and a Florida resident.

Have you already written your essay? Try finding some people online to revise it for you. I found someone on Yahoo Answers that revised my essay several times for me, lol.

I’m not sure if anyone revises essays in here…

Those SAT’s are much better BUT your GPA is still low. You will probably be deferred (if not rejected) and asked to submit midyear grades. This is what happened to my friend’s son who had similar stats to you. He finally got admitted to summer session (they offered summer instead of fall) in late March. He decided to attend the University of North Florida instead, where he is very happy.

Midknite, i have a 3.0 also (weighted lol) and UCF is a far reach for me. Applying anyway.

Question: If I were to take the January SAT in order to get a higher score; (scores received mid feb), then scores sent by collegeboard to UCF (received in 4 weeks or so)…would it help ?

UCF: SAT Reasoning / ACT score report due by: 01-MAY

Responses greatly appreciated. This will help Midknite and I, if Midknite is willing to retake the test to score > 1120.
