Hey guys,

I have yet to receive anything from Binghamton University and I'm a little nervous. I just got my acceptance letter from Geneseo today though! Anyway, here's some information about myself:

SAT I: 1800 (1810 superscore)
SAT IIs: Spanish - 700 | Math 2 670

GPA: 3.35 (Unweighted)| 4.00 (Weighted)

Common App Essay: I thought it was pretty good; I like to consider myself a good writer.

Extracurriculars:
4 years of FIRST Robotics
2 years of Red Cross Club
2 part-time jobs
Many, many hours of community service

That's about it. I'm also a NYS resident and my brother graduated from there 2 years ago. My high school (Ithaca High School -- yes, it's right next to Cornell) is pretty damn competitive too.

Thanks.

Ordinarily I’d say not very likely with those mediocre stats, for Bing.
The wild card for you is a sibling who recently graduated.

Hold on to that acceptance from Geneseo!

Mediocre? Jeez, didn’t think my scores/grades were THAT bad.

Last years average M/CR was 1330+/-. As I said, you have a wild card

Right, but I feel that, as time goes on, more schools are beginning to put more weight on GPA, ECs, and essays. That’s just what I heard. I wasn’t too concerned with my low SAT I.

Unless you “heard” this new emphasis from the Bing admissions committee, at best, it’s speculation.
The only thing going down is home values!

Would you say that Stony Brook and Bing are at the same level of comepetitiveness for Engineering?

Which is better for engineering. Stony Brook has BME, but Bing doesn’t. They have something similar which is bio-engineering…or something.

b23,

Way above my paygrade to even venture a guess. I have read Cornell & Albany have superior engineering programs.

Your SAT score is pretty low for Binghamton’s standards it seems.
