My Chances to Reach Schools? UVA, UNC-Chapel Hill, and NYU

I will be a senior in the fall, and I would like to know my chances of getting into some of my reach schools, particularly UVA, UNC-Chapel Hill, or NYU.

I may not have enough information here, but this is all that I have for now.

Unweighted GPA: 3.9 (-Most of my Bs were in AP Classes)
Weighted GPA: 4.54

SAT: 1980 (But I plan on bumping that up to at least a 2050 by the fall)
SAT II: Spanish - 720, I plan on taking the Math I SAT in the fall (I took a practice one and I got a 720 also).

I have taken AP Gov. and Politics, AP Spanish, AP English Lang., AP World History, and AP Calculus AB (I got a 4 in AP Gov. sophomore year, but I haven't gotten my other scores in the mail yet). Next year, I will be taking AP Literature, AP U.S. History, AP Spanish Lit, and AP Stat.

I am a member of:
Marching Band (Section Leader)
Symphonic Orchestra (1st chair viola)
School Newspaper (News/Features Editor)
Forensics Club (Co-Captain)
Ambassadors (Aid to freshmen)
National Honor Society
Spanish Honor Society
Math Honor Society
Tri-M Music Honor Society
National Forensics League

I've worked as a lifeguard for three summers and will be an intern for Habitat for Humanity this summer.

What do you think my chances are for these schools if I bring up my SAT?

Also, my parents want me to apply to Columbia. (Because I have a friend of my dad's who is a Board Director at Columbia who will be writing my letter of reccomendation - if that even affects my chances.)

Yeah, you’re good now, let alone with a higher SAT.

Are you OOS for Chapel Hill?
EC’s are okay but not great, it seems more like a laundry list.
Great GPA!
SAT’s are meodicre, if you bumped up to the 2100 range you would have a great chance.

IF you did get your SAT scores to 2050:
Then:
NYU- Match
Chapel Hill- High Match/Low Reach (depends on OOS or not)
UVA- match

Good luck!

What are you majoring in?
I would say NYU is a match if you are not applying to Stern. UNC is a low match if you are out of state, and UVA would be slightly lower than UNC.

If you get your SAT to 2200+ I would call all of them matches, and you would have a substantial chance at Columbia with that recommendation.
