I’m a student at Pasadena CC. Second year. Want to get into a good environmental engineering school and Obispo would be my top choice. Working on my igetc.

just wanted to know what my chances are in getting in to the program is?

i have a 3.1 gpa. any suggestions?

Hey, I am a 3rd year environmental engineering student at Santa Monica College hoping to go to Cal Poly SLO in the fall. I applied for Fall 2010 but got waitlisted and rejected in the end, but applied again for Fall 2011.

There isn’t much to tell knowing that your GPA is 3.1, but the average GPA for transfer students was 3.5 last year according to their brochure. What they look for is mainly a completion of all the classes listed at this website:

[How to Apply - Admissions - Cal Poly](<a href=“Cal Poly Admissions”>Cal Poly Admissions)

I can’t really tell you your chances, but heres my information from last year when I got waitlisted & rejected:

-GPA = 3.41
-Completed All mandatory Physics, Chemistry, English, Speech, Math classes
-Completed only Statics, didn’t have Strength of Materials, CAD, or other classes such as Microbiology & Technical writing completed.

It was the only school I applied to, so I am doing another year at community college doing all the other courses listed in ASSIST.

Hope it helps

P.S. you should also check out a thread i made a while back on the same issue:

^ Also completed C programming class for the year I was rejected. Unfortunately they don’t want C anymore.

thanks smc i will look into it! cuz i have been kind of doubting whether i can handle the classes and whether i should also broaden my options by doing the UC igetc also or just focus on the cal poly ones which would leave me with just the 2 cal polys… and pomona only has a civil with an environmental emphasis it didnt seem to really interest me.

by any chance do you know how their program is there??

yeah most of my family are engineers and my aunt was saying it would be better if i majored in civil engineering and then have an emphasis on environmental or to get my masters in environmental. since it will give more options especially when trying to find a job.

read your post, very insightful. good luck with everything and definitely let me know when you find out results in a few months!!
