By weird I mean inconsistent.
I think.
I'm applying for universities such as UC Berkeley, Pomona, and Stanford. Stanford is NOT getting my SAT Subject Test scores as I've applied already. All other universities will be receiving ALL my scores. So do I look like a good choice? I'm applying for a major in English, by the way.

SAT I (best):
Critical Reading: 700
Math: 620
Writing: 800

SAT II:
English: 790
US History: 570

I've only taken my SAT IIs once and there is no time to take them again. unfortunately. I've done exceptionally well in English related areas but seems like I've botched up really badly in non-English areas. Does that put me at a huge disadvantage or what? thanks.

You have a good shot at UC-B and Ponoma; I dont know anything about Stanford. Your critical reading skills are excellent, but if you bring your math score up a little, you’ll have not problems getting in. Your writing score puts me to shame Anyway, US History is somewhat complex of an SAT II…try World History, its easier. I took AP World and got a 4, didnt really do much to pass, I even fell asleep during the exam. (not to say any AP exam is that easy, but you know what I mean.)

Honestly the scores are defintely low for Stanford and Pomona (I don’t really know about UCs), especially considering it’s only a 1320/1600. Without knowing anything else about you it’s hard to chance, but they definitely seem to be reaches.

Okay, I’m glad I have a ‘good shot’ (:
But I can’t retake any of these SATs due to timing. haha. I’m stuck with what I’ve got which is why I’m sorta trying to get as many opinion as possible :D

we seem to be in about the same boat; my SAT breakdown is 760 W 730 CR 600 M and I’m also interested mostly in English. Since you’re applying to top-notch schools I assume your GPA is pretty high, so hopefully that will help you. Did you take the US SAT II after taking an AP course? I feel as if people with high gpas but low SATs are in the most awkward spot admission-wise.

Haha, seems to be so. I do have mainly A grades but I don’t do AP classes. Or at least I don’t think I do because I live and study in England. But I’m not an Intl student since I’m American.
My position is more awkward that yours. trust me ;p

But I took the USHistory SATII after studying a guide for less than a month. I had very little background knowledge from middle school which was long forgotten. So in short, I wasn’t too surprised at my low score.

Your SATs are great… I think you might be accepted to all these schools, and considering you want to major in English I don’t think even Stanford will pull you back because your math score isn’t as competitive as +700

Your scores put you at the very low end for schools like Stanford and Pomona unfortunately. Without a hook, getting in will be unlikely. If these are just reaches and you’ll otherwise go to college in the UK your list is fine, if you really want to end up in CA I would add a few more, less selective, schools.

Consider Pitzer, Scripps if you’re female, Occidental, Santa Clara, USD, Pepperdine.

Thanks everyone. Unfortunately I got a no from Stanford but will be applying to Pomona ED2.

@ bluespiano: I do a levels @2college2college: thanks for the advice on those colleges. I already decided to apply for pitzer and seeing your suggestion boosts my confidence a bit :D
