my chances?

<p>Hello, I would like to receive your opinions on my chances. Thank you in advance.</p>

<p>GPA; 3.2 UW / 3.25 W</p>

<p>SAT: 1960
-Critical Reading: 620
-Math: 700
-Writing: 640</p>

<p>My school does not rank.
My school, Darien High School, is a US News "Silver Medal" school.</p>

<p>AP/Advanced Courses Taken:
Biology
Computer Science
Advanced Programming
Economics</p>

<p>My intended major is computer science.</p>

<p>I will have 3 letters of recommendation (guidance counselor, club advisor, computer science teacher).</p>

<p>Extracurricular Activities:
-I have participated in a few school programming competitions at universities such as Quinnipiac. Our team placed well.
-Member of Support Our Soldiers Club for 2 years.
-I am starting to volunteer at Person to Person this year and expect to have 50 hours of volunteer work by application time.
-Member of computer club for 4 years.
-My work experience: Bus boy for 2 years at local restaurant.</p>

<p>Other information:
-I will be applying for financial aid
-I am white</p>

<p>I think you have a chance at WPI. Get those SAT scores up though as there isn’t too much you can do about the GPA at this point. And keep studying. Or if you have extensive computing achievements (perhaps a very rermarkable prrogram), let WPI know via Flex Path. Remember that WPI is test-optional. Make sure you can get good recommendations.</p>

<p>You have average/above-average EC’s but if your experience at the restaurant helped support the family or something, that would be worth mentioning.</p>

<p>FA/scholarship chances are not too high given GPA and SAT. I sugigest you apply to WPI as it as a good school but that you apply more broadly as well. UConn has a decent CS program. UMass-Amherst has a very good CS program (I would say better than WPI’s - WPI is more of an engineering school). But keep studying and if you manage to improve the SAT scorer and do very well this year, you will have a good chance of admit and perhaps scholarship as well.</p>
