I have more ECs, same test scores, same gpa, a little less hours, and from what i can see I’ll have more hooks/more meaningful things to write about. i believe this puts us in a similar place, so i’m anxious to see how you’re chanced. why UMass out of curiousity?

i go to a private school in so cal
and major?

Is your GPA on a 4.0 scale or 5.0 scale?

If your GPA is on a 4.0 scale, you have an excellent chance even though there is a pretty big disconnect between your GPA and your test scores.

If your GPA is on a 5.0 scale, then you have an average GPA with average test scores, which means you have an average change. Since UMass accepts 60+% of applicants, that is your chance.

Being out of state gives you a boost, don’t know how much. Add 200 pts to your SAT and your chances will be 90%+.

Apply EA, it gives you a better chance for scholarships.

notrichenough:
My GPA is on a 4.0 scale.
About the EA, I’ve heard its a little more difficult to be accepted if you apply early. is this true??

SoCalStudent3:
-What do you mean when you say more meaningful thinks to write about?? Do you mean for admission essays?
-major:environmental and interior architecture and design
-haha, UMass ive heard is a really fun and good school. it offers the majors im interested in and i really want to experience living somewhere else that Southern California. I’ve lived here my whole life and im pretty sure i want to live here after college so i feel that college is the perfect opportunity to explore somewhere different. Although, Auburn University in Alabama is my Number one choice.

Any advice on anything?

If you want to experience 4 seasons of weather, go to UMass.

If you want to live Jeff Foxworthy’s “you might be a redneck if” routine, go to Auburn.
