UMD-CP -good match
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor - reach

Your test scores aren't quite competitive enough at some of the more selective schools on your list. You do have a challenging curriculum and have taken some hard classes at your school. You also have some community service hours, but besides that your EC's appear to be a bit weak. What role did you serve on the speech team (did you ever achieve a leadership position or something)?

That being said, Washington U in St. Louis and Johns Hopkins are both reaches...NYU will be pretty hard as well. I agree with v_ramar on UMich-Ann Arbor; since your out of state, that's a reach. Overall the Maryland state schools should be matches for you. Which Penn State campus are you applying to, or do you just apply to the school as a whole and then get placed based on your proximity? I'd say Penn State is a safety.

Overall, a pretty balanced list of colleges. Good luck with that :)

kolliparap, you are a new member with just 20 posts, almost all of them evaluating students' chances for admission at various schools. Who are you? With what experience/authority do you speak?

quiltguru, every user has to start posting at some time. Because there was a time when you only had twenty posts. This board is for information and entertainment purposes, and it is not a good idea to take every piece of advice here to heart, because there is little way to know how exactly how each college's admissions committee will act. And trust me, I have had experience in these matters. Whether these people choose to take my words into consideration or not is up to them. Keep in mind that there are numerous users who post replies to students' inquiries who really don't know what they're talking about. I nonetheless respect your questioning my authority, for I am no guidance counselor (and 90% of the other people who evaluate people's chances here are not guidance counselors either; in fact, most are still in high school), but please keep in mind that I do refrain from posting replies to threads for which which I feel I cannot provide a worthy answer.
