I'm using my ACT.</p>

<p>Extra Curricular
EXTREMELY active at the local community college. For example, I'm taking 17 units there this fall, and only 2 classes at the high school. I have taken second year calculus (multi variable, differential equations) and 3 semesters of calculus based physics there. I have 86 college units total, not including the current semester.
I tutor both math and physics at the community college, and am starting to get paid for the physics.
Performed a summer internship at the local UC, in the department of Chemical Engineering this past summer. I talk about this in my main essay.
VP of Math and Engineering clubs at the community college.
Have participated in Physics Olympiad, and several local math competitions.</p>

<p>You need other passions outside of academics. Everybody applying to Stanford will have roughly the same stats as you, so you need to find a way to stand out from the rest.</p>

<p>Thanks for the responses, keep them coming! And for my brother, the research at a UC through the summer and continuing into senior year really made the difference. I guess I am counting on that being my “hook,” and while it is academic it seemed to be one of the reasons he got in. I don’t play any sports, and my community service has all been through volunteer tutoring.</p>
