My Chances

Hey everyone!
I recently got rejected from some of my top choices, so right now I am really considering my options. It's taking a while for me to hear back, but i'd love to have some input on my chances. I think what is killing me is my SAT scores and class rank.

Texas Resident/Hispanic
Major: Communications, Psychology [second choice]

GPA: 3.5795 out of 4.0

Class rank: 301/661 :|
I attend a really competitive high school :|

AP Courses: AP English Language, AP US History, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics B. I also have five other pre-ap courses that I have taken.

Dual Enrollment Courses: Composition I, Composition II, Algebra

SAT [all three sections]: 1500 :|
M+CR=1020

Extra-Curricular Activities from all four years:
UIL Informative Speaking [Team Captain]
National Hispanic Institute [Active Participant, Volunteer]
National Honor Society
Health Occupation Students of America
UIL One-Act Play [Assistant Stage Manager]
Dramatic Society
Track & Field
Cross Country
Tae Kwon Do

Active member in my church. Currently helping in a Teen ACTS retreat and holding two leadership positions.

248 Community service hours.

Two letters of recommendation.

Submitted three pretty good essays.

You have great EC’s and Community service hours.

The problem is… when you say you are from a really competitive high school, the class ranking can be excused. Your low SAT scores cannot. with a barely top 50% and low SAT’s you should really get ready to try an alternate route to be an Aggie. And that can easily be done going to Blinn or A&M Galveston.
