you need to up your math sat. that needs to be atleast 600. kind of odd that you're taking ap calculus and you can't break 600 on them. rank is fine. ec's are nothing to write home about (unless you're being recruited for wrestling...but since you're not, you're probably not good enough to be admitted on that, let alone get $ for it lol).

best suggestion, retake sat's. and do well on sat2s. don't take math 2c, take 1c. you'll score better. hopefully you become president in those clubs.

Every (almost every) OOS applicant who gets admitted is in top 5%, has better SAT's than you, and does the same type of stuff you do (sans sports). probably have about the regular OOS chance of...20 or 25%. If you know you want to go there, apply ED as it greatly increases your chances.

I definitely plan on re-taking the SAT's, twice more if needs be. And yes, 600 or 650 is my goal. Would a 620 on the math cut it?

I read on CollegeBoard.com that U-Va requires a math, english, and another SAT II, but I couldn't find anything to verify it on the U-Va website. Any info?

And depending on how I do at Nationals, I may or may not be recruited for wrestling. I have better stats than my brother did at this point in his career, and he nearly went to UVa for wrestling, so hopefully that improves my chances.

What kind of extracurricular activities would you prescribe to increase my standing? Summer programs? Internship?

I thought UVa recommended SAT IIs but didn't necessarily require them? Which SAT IIs do they recommend?

just take any 3 sat II's. recomended might as well mean required. I highly doubt they'd admit anyone who hasn't taken them (let alone done half way decent)

Jags, that advice actually is not correct. In high school, I saw several people get accepted ED to UVA without having taken SAT2's, and I saw several more who got in RD without having taken them. Most of these people did end up taking a couple in the spring for placement purposes, but when UVA says that SAT2's aren't necessary, I think they mean it.

cavalier - I don't know about instate admissions, but an out of state student can't get into UVA without taking SAT IIs, unless he is of course a recruited athlete. My advice was correct.

wait, will they still accept january sat scores?
