MY Chances???

Hi i am an asian male from New Jersey. I want to see if i have a chance for UIUC College of Engineering. I put my major as Mechanical Engineering
My stats are:
3.1 UW GPA but all Honors and APS for math and science and history classes. (I attend the 3rd ranked public school in NJ).
2050 SAT, (760)M+(660)V = 1420
They received all my stuff December 12th.
Also my father attended this school so i guess i have legacy.

Thanks for your help.

GPA is a bit too low
Sorry, you have no chance

No chance? Dam its my first choice.

I think you're definitely in at Rutgers though, cause you're instate

there's always a chance but like ajax4me said, your gpa is relatively low for someone applying to engineering.

dude, you got a chance. for everyone looking at his GPA, it is UNWEIGHTED!!! not weighted. Which means if it was weighted, it would be freaking 4.0 something. YOur stats look a lot like my brothers when he applied for mechanical engineering. Believe me, you have a very good chance. Especially w/ your dad as an alumnas.

Thanks for your replies.

yea, that first guy, what the...

anyway, i thnk it might depend on what your ECs are, aka any science stuff (JETS, robotics, etc)

I think you have a decent shot. While your GPA is a bit low, your test scores are above average for engineering. I don't know how UIUC handles legacy admissions, but I'd assume that would give you some advantage.

Good extracurriculars and a decent essay might push you over the edge.

he got accepted ^^
