DECISIONS SO FAR:

Accepted:

Willamette
San Jose State
UC Santa Cruz

Waitlisted:

Pepperdine
UC San Diego

Rejected:

Cal Poly SLO
UC Davis

The gpa will hurt your chances for sure.

I know, clearly if that 3.14 was a 3.65, I would’ve been accepted at UCSD rather than waitlisted.

That said, UCGPA is 3.58

Looks good to me. GPA’s not the deciding factor, despite what people may tell you.

Average gpa of admitted students at UCR is around there

Didn’t apply to UCR or UCM, I’d rather do community college.

Of the UC’s, my favorites are SD and Irvine. I’ve been waitlisted by SD, so I’m really counting on Irvine now.

Davis is meh (didnt like it much, and then got rejected lol), and I personally dont rate SB because of party culture/UCSTD rep.

mission kid? ah, I attend a school near you… I’m sorry about your GPA; I know how rigorous your school is. If you attended any other school, your GPA would be crazy high I’m sure. So far, I got into SD, Irvine (w/ honors), SC (w/ honors) and Davis and I probably did much much less work than you did. My friend got regents at every UC he applied to except UCB and his extra currics and SATs are much weaker than yours.

You’re a strong candidate! Don’t worry. Please don’t let mission mentality kill you. You seem like a smart kid who’ll do fine wherever you go.

I also go to a very rigorous public high school in the bay area and so far the college decisions I’ve gotten are pretty similar to yours. My GPA is slightly higher (UW: 3.3, W:3.7, UCW: 3.9) and my test scores are all overall less than yours (SAT: 2120).

Accepted: Willamette, UOP, UCSC

Rejected: Uchicago, UC Davis

Waitlisted: UCSD

Pending: UC Irvine, UCSB, UCLA, UCB

I’m disappointed in the results so far and I was really hoping to get into Davis or UCSD. :frowning: Do I still have a chance at the other UCs? Or should I face reality and start preparing myself to go with UCSC? And if I opt in for UCSD waitlist, will I actually still have a chance or does waitlist = rejection? What are my options now…? I’m regretting my decision to take more challenging courses in high school vs maintaining an awesome GPA.

So I’ve also posted on other threads, but just want to post it here too in case anyone following this thread is wondering:

I checked my UCI app status like 15min ago and I got in for Biological Sciences!

There is hope! I wish everyone the best!!!

Where on the portal does it say that you got accepted? Mine still says that I’m still being considered… :/

It’s right on the homepage when you log in. THe first thing you see. Even though it says “no change after 9am,” mine changed at around 9pm (pacific time) today. And if you’re still being considered then that means you still have a chance of getting in! I was still being considered like 40minutes ago, but now I’m in!! Good luck!! :)

Mine didn’t change, I expect rejection from now.

Yes, I am a mission kid, and I know that Mission killed my chances at a good college, sadly.

Ayyy other mission kid here

I’m starting to think Community College may be necessary.

I’m not eligible for finaid (other than merit aid), and I’m certainly not paying 120K for a UC Santa Cruz degree.

I’m shocked. I never would’ve thought a student with a 2320 on the SAT would not be accepted to at least one of the better UCs. I’m probably on the same boat as you with community college. This weekend has depressed me.

I’m sure that you’ll get in irvine.

I’m shocked myself. I knew I was GPA match for the lower tier UC’s, but that said, I thought my SAT would propel me into contention for atleast one midtier.

Gahh same position as OP.

Do I have a chance with a 3.64 UC GPA and a 33 ACT (~2200 SAT) and good ECs/Essays?
